On October 18, 2025, the 22nd International Cultural Festival of Peking University opened in the Centennial Lecture Hall Square. With the theme of "Wisdom Chain Five Continents, Painting Yanyuan Together", this year's cultural festival has set up four major sections and 20 activities: "Listening to the Voice of the World", "Indulging in the Colorful World", "Appreciating the Spiritual Rhyme of the World" and "Feeling the World Civilization", attracting many Chinese and foreign guests, teachers and students to participate.
Leaders and guests from the General Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, the Center for Chinese and Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, the China Scholarship Council, the Study Abroad Service Center of the Ministry of Education, the China Education Association for International Exchange, the Sino-foreign People-to-People Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education, the Beijing Overseas Scholars Center, the Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County of Liuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, representatives of universities, international students, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan student exchange practice bases, enterprises and institutions, and support units, Jordan , Serbia, Tanzania, Belarus and foreign envoys from Austria, Egypt, Ecuador, Georgia, Indonesia, Lebanon, New Zealand, Pakistan, Romania and other countries, as well as Peking University President Gong Qihuang, school leaders Fang Fang and Jiang Guohua attended the opening ceremony. Fang Fang said in his speech that General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that "civilization is colorful because of exchanges, and civilization is rich because of mutual learning."
Peking University has always regarded internationalization as the core strategy of building a world-class university, cultivating top-notch talents with a sense of family and country and global vision, building bridges of cross-cultural exchanges with an open and inclusive attitude, and contributing wisdom and strength to promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. Wang Daquan spoke highly of the influence of the International Cultural Festival and said that the theme of this cultural festival has strong significance of the times, and hoped that Chinese and foreign young people would conduct in-depth discussions on science and technology and civilization exchanges and explore new paths for global cultural exchanges. Serbian Ambassador to China Maya Stefanovic called on young students to jointly explore the integration of education and technology in the wave of artificial intelligence, and encouraged everyone to remain curious and promote the progress of human civilization.
Zhu Junyu, a 2023 undergraduate student of the School of Foreign Languages, and Dai Mingxin, a 2025 master's student of the School of Journalism and Communication, spoke as representatives of Chinese and foreign students respectively. Gong Qihuang presented the flag of the International Cultural Festival to the representatives of international students and announced the opening. On behalf of the school, Jiang Guohua accepted the painting "New Youth, Smart Future" donated by local artists in Sanjiang County, Guangxi.
The theme garden fair will set up 51 booths, covering 47 countries. International students enthusiastically introduced folk anecdotes, characteristic handicrafts and cultural symbols in their hometowns, and teachers and students shuttled between them, collected characteristic seals, and immersed themselves in the customs and customs of different countries.
Peking University youth from more than 30 countries and regions performed on the same stage, and various art forms such as dance, song, martial arts, and national instrumental music showed strong national customs and youthful vitality.
A series of special cultural activities such as theme photography exhibitions, international food festivals, intangible cultural heritage and innovation ecology exhibitions, Chinese Mianzhu New Year painting art exhibitions, chess swallow gardens, and international handicraft workshops are wonderful, showing the charm of China's excellent traditional culture and the vitality of multicultural integration.
On the same day, the "Peking University Intangible Cultural Heritage Innovation and Sustainable Development Forum" was held in the B101 lecture hall of the second gymnasium. Chinese and foreign experts, scholars, teachers and student representatives discussed the protection and innovation of intangible cultural heritage. This cultural festival integrates the concepts of science and technology and humanities, and will serve as an important carrier of the "International University Alliance for the Development of Digital Intelligence Education" and contribute to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
