With the spring breeze caressing their faces and all things coming to life, on February 25, more than 200 international students from 25 countries arrived in Beijing after traveling across mountains and seas to begin a new academic journey at Beijing Institute of Technology. Filled with dreams and passion, they officially became new BITers! Upon their arrival in Beijing on the 25th, BIT volunteers were already waiting at the airport to warmly welcome the new students who had traveled from afar. They proactively assisted with luggage, verified registration details, and guided students to the buses heading to campus. Through their attentive and thoughtful service, they conveyed the warmth of BIT and helped ease the fatigue of the journey.
Meanwhile, the “one-stop” orientation zones at both campuses operated efficiently. From document verification and data entry to SIM card and insurance processing, accommodation registration, and dorm check-in, each step was seamlessly coordinated and orderly, providing a solid foundation for international students to complete their enrollment procedures smoothly.
On the 26th, academic preparations proceeded in an orderly manner. Freshmen enrolled in major-specific courses, under faculty guidance, gained a thorough understanding of the course selection system, carefully screened courses to find the best fit, and successfully completed their course registration. Meanwhile, freshmen enrolled in Chinese language courses took placement exams to be accurately matched with appropriate classes, laying a solid foundation for their future studies.
Simultaneously, the International Student Center organized campus tours for the new students. With lively explanations from volunteers, everyone visited key areas such as academic buildings, dining halls, and the library, quickly familiarizing themselves with the campus environment and immersing themselves in the charm of BUST.
At the orientation session, faculty members provided comprehensive and detailed introductions covering academics, daily life, and safety, ensuring a smooth transition for international students into life at BUST.
Officers Sun and Wang from the Entry-Exit Administration Detachment of the Haidian Branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau attended the event to deliver a legal briefing. Drawing on real-life cases, Officer Wang focused on explaining laws and regulations regarding entry-exit management, safety precautions, and anti-fraud measures. His presentation was both accessible and insightful, receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience. At the promotional event, when the logos of China’s top universities appeared on the screen, the new students immediately recognized the BUST emblem, prompting a burst of proud applause as a sense of belonging to “Studying at BUST” welled up within them.
Students enrolled in language courses then attended pre-class orientation sessions to familiarize themselves with course content and academic requirements, ensuring they were fully prepared for the upcoming semester. The influence of the “Study at BIT” brand continues to grow, attracting an increasing number of outstanding young people from around the world to study and engage in cultural exchange at the university, thereby jointly promoting mutual learning between Chinese and foreign cultures. We wish every international student in China every success at BIT, encouraging them to make the most of their time here and write their own brilliant chapter of their study abroad experience!
