The opening ceremony of the 2025 international students of Zhejiang University of Technology was successfully held

On the afternoon of September 28, the opening ceremony of the 2025 international students of Zhejiang University of Technology was successfully held in the lecture hall of the Cricket Hall of Pingfeng Campus. More than 600 international freshmen from more than 40 countries around the world gathered here to officially start their journey as ZJUTers with a vision for the future.

Jiang Shaofei, member of the Party Committee and director of the Propaganda Department of the school, heads of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, the Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee, the Safety and Security Department of the Party Committee, the Youth League Committee, the Academic Affairs Office, the Graduate School, the Personnel Office, the Planning and Finance Office, the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, the Public Affairs Management Office, the Rongda Logistics Group and other functional departments, as well as the leaders of various professional colleges were invited to attend. The party and government leadership team and all faculty and staff of the International College attended the meeting.

The ceremony also specially invited representatives of the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau of Hangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, the West Lake Branch of Hangzhou Lawyers Association, Daguan Street in Gongshu District, Pingfeng Community in Xihu District, Hangzhou International Travel Health Care Center, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China West Lake Branch, China Telecom Gongshu Branch, Gujia Home Furnishing Co., Ltd. and other joint construction units of the "Foreign-related Governance Community" to witness together.

Jiang Shaofei, member of the school party committee and director of the propaganda department, took the stage to deliver a speech. On behalf of the school, he expressed his sincere welcome to all the freshmen and put forward three ardent expectations to the students in the form of "three questions and three answers": first, to achieve true deep learning in the Chinese context, enter the market and alleys, understand the real and three-dimensional China, and become a thinker with cultural insight; second, in the blending of diverse backgrounds, from "encounter" to "acquaintance", in-depth exchanges with Chinese teachers and students, taking the initiative to meet global friends, and becoming a bridge to promote mutual learning among civilizations; The third is to combine personal growth with China's development and the needs of the world, assume the responsibility of the times, and contribute unique value to the solution of common global problems.

BOLLINI ELEONORA, a 2022 undergraduate student majoring in International Economics and Trade (China Business) from Italy, spoke as a representative of the old students. She shared with everyone the joy of winning the Golden ZJUTer and her vision when she was a "foreign anchor", and encouraged the new students to bravely step out of their comfort zones and achieve real growth in exploration and challenges outside the classroom.

SAMIEV ABDULLO, a financial management major from Tajikistan, spoke as a representative of undergraduate freshmen. In order to realize his dream of studying in China, he learned Chinese from scratch and finally entered the University of Technology as he wished. He quoted the origins of famous scholars from the Han, Tang and Ming dynasties and his hometown, expressed his expectations for future studies, and aspired to become a bridge of friendship and cooperation between China and Tajikistan.

MOK LIMDEVIT from Cambodia, majoring in civil engineering, spoke as a representative of new graduate students. Under the careful guidance of his teacher and the support of his classmates, he successfully completed his master's degree at Polytechnic University and chose to continue his doctoral studies. He urged new students to "establish their ambitions and keep their minds normal", have the courage to face challenges, expand their horizons outside the classroom, and always put their physical and mental health first.

At the ceremony, Yao Nan, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, Secretary of the Party Branch and Dean of the International College, read out the list of 2025 international student scholarship students. This year, a total of 44 outstanding freshmen were awarded full doctoral scholarships, Chinese government scholarships and international Chinese teacher scholarships for their outstanding performance.

In order to enhance the collective cohesion and sense of belonging of international students, this year, the International College selected 10 teachers as professional class teachers for international students in 2025 after independent registration and extensive mobilization. The appointment ceremony was held at the ceremony, and Wang Shaorang, deputy director of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, and Xia Shengjie, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Office, issued letters of appointment to the representatives of the class teachers.

In order to further build a collaborative education pattern, the ceremony also held the appointment ceremony of the "Foreign-related Governance Community" advisory group. Eight experts and leaders from the joint construction unit and related fields from all walks of life were hired as consultants, and Qiu Mingming and Li Yong, vice presidents of the International College, issued letters of appointment to them.
