On September 28, the 2025 "First Lesson of School" activity for international students from Jiangsu universities in China, hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and hosted by Nanjing University of Science and Technology, was held at the Art and Culture Museum of Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
Yang Shubing, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Liu Jiandong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Li Jin, Deputy Chief of the Exit and Entry Management Corps of the Provincial Public Security Department, Chen Guang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Famous Teacher, Professor of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and Li Qiang, Vice President of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, attended the event. More than 320 people from 12 universities in the province attended the event, including heads of education and management departments and representatives of international students. The event was jointly hosted by Chinese and foreign students, showing the characteristics and vitality of the internationalization of higher education in Jiangsu.

ALISSA KACEM, a French student from Hohai University, and JOSH MOO, a Malaysian student from Jiangsu University, spoke as representatives of the freshmen, sharing their expectations and feelings of getting to know Jiangsu for the first time, hoping to achieve success in their studies in China and become messengers of Sino-foreign scientific and technological and cultural exchanges.
Based on his own experience in studying and guiding international students, Academician Chen Guang encouraged international students to actively integrate and study hard from the perspective of people-to-people exchanges and academic exploration, and promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. Chen Guang sent a message to international students not only to read the prosperity of thousands of years, but also to open a new chapter here. May China not only be a destination for studying, but also a second hometown on their growth path, a "home" that will always feel warm and proud.
Outstanding counselors spoke on behalf of Chu Chu of Southeast University, conveying their care and guidance to new students studying in China.
ABID ULLAH, a Pakistani alumnus of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and AMIRDZHON, a Tajik alumnus of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, shared their learning and growth experience in Jiangsu and wished the new students a good learning career in Jiangsu.
The award ceremony for outstanding student representatives of the "Study in Jiangsu Government Scholarship" was also held at the event, and Yang Shubing, Li Qiang, Li Jin and Liu Jiandong presented awards to the award-winning student representatives from 12 universities in Jiangsu Province.
