On the evening of October 12, the School of International Cultural Exchange of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics was successfully held with the theme of "Youth Express, Dreams Set Sail" (Youth Express, Dreams Set Sail).
More than 200 international students from many countries around the world gathered together to start a new life in the immersive journey of "Friendship Station", "Courage Station" and "SUFE Station", and went to an exchange event that crossed borders, had both cultural temperature and youthful vitality, showing the vivid practice of international education in Shanghai universities.
01 Diverse programs bloomed and played a cross-cultural dialogue movement
With the "train journey" as the narrative clue, more than ten carefully choreographed programs cover various forms such as band singing, song solo, dance, magic, etc., and Chinese and foreign students use art as a bridge to show the beauty of cultural integration on the stage. The Torrent band took the lead in igniting the atmosphere of the scene, bringing two songs with different styles, "Do You Want to Dance" and "Country Road". As a multinational band composed of students from Japan, Myanmar, Thailand and other countries, the members perfectly integrated the vitality of rock and the warmth of country music with tacit cooperation, and the audience waved their arms to the rhythm, instantly breaking the strangeness of the freshmen.
This was followed by the "One Long and Two Short" group composed of the 2025 freshmen of International Trade University, who brought the song "Love Wrong" to the scene. The group's delicate singing voice is full of emotional tension, which not only shows the artistic expression of the freshman group, but also allows the students present to feel the temperature of emotional growth in youth. Immediately afterwards, Qiu Lulu (Myanmar), a major in international trade, conveyed a positive attitude with a song "Dark Clouds and Dark Clouds Go Away", and the clear singing voice dispelled the coolness of autumn; Ji Zihuan from the business school also conveyed the power of youth with his singing, and he brought "Im alive》描绘了青春成长的心路历程,让勇敢迈向未来的信念感染了每一位观众。盛下英世(日本)与江映月(意大利)合作演绎的爵士经典《Why dont you do right", with a low and tactful singing voice with a retro stage atmosphere, showing exotic style; "Lose Yourself" by Bassem (Egypt), a graduate student of the School of Finance, showed his dedication to his dreams with explosive rap, which resonated with the audience.
Dance and magic show also became the highlight of the party.
The International Student Dance Troupe brought "What is Love", the members wore uniform costumes, interpreted the vitality of youth with neat and agile dance postures, and the stage lighting changed with the dance steps, creating a dreamy atmosphere; Zhang Siyue, a member of the P.C.M Magic Club of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, brought the "Enigma" mind magic, showing the magic of "mind reading" through interaction with the audience, and the scene cheered one after another. The magic surprise has not yet faded, and the song "Leave Quickly" brought by Qiu Kaican (Myanmar) brought the scene into a delicate emotional atmosphere. The song tells the loneliness and fragility in the heart, and the gentle singing voice hides a desire for warmth and understanding, which resonates with many students. At the end of the performance, Liu Shengjie ended with a song "Silk", which is based on the millennium cultural exchanges on the Eurasian continent, cleverly combines love stories with Silk Road civilization, and conveys the profound heritage of Chinese and foreign cultural integration in the melodious melody.
02 Immersive experience shortens the distance and writes the memory of youth gathering
In order to allow international freshmen to quickly integrate into university life, the party pays attention to interactivity and experience in the design of the links, and integrates "icebreaking" into every detail. When entering, each freshman puts a note with a student number into the lottery box, and gives warm gifts in the four rounds of lottery. The group photo area printed with elements such as "I miss you very much at SUFE" and "Little Treasure" has become a popular place for freshmen to check in, and everyone actively takes photos and freezes the beauty of their first encounter with the lens. During the intermission, Chinese and foreign students in the indoor exchange area shared their hometown culture and exchanged their admission experiences.
Chen Shousheng, a freshman from Malaysia, said: "From the guidance at the entrance, to the interaction in the show, to the food during the break, the whole party made me feel the warmth of home and meet many like-minded friends. ”
03 China and foreign countries work together to build activities to highlight the responsibility of international education
As an important window for the international education of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the School of International Cultural Exchange has always been committed to building an exchange platform for Chinese and foreign students. The party was organized by the International Student Federation, and the team members covered China, Malaysia, Russia, Brazil, Japan and other countries. From preliminary planning, program rehearsal to on-site layout, everyone overcame language and cultural differences and worked together to complete various tasks. Through precise project management, the Department of Literature and Art arranges the scene in advance, dividing the stage area, console area, and audience area; The prop team repeatedly rehearsed the equipment handling process during the rehearsal to ensure the smooth connection of the program; The order team guides the audience to enter with safety stickers to ensure that the scene is orderly.
Hideyo Morishita (Japan), Executive Chairman of the International Student Federation, said: "From the programming to the on-site service, every detail of this party reflects the concept of solidarity and mutual assistance and common struggle. We hope that through such activities, international freshmen can feel the tolerance and warmth of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, feel the enthusiasm and unity of international students, and build a platform for them to express themselves and exchange cultures. ”
As a microcosm of Shanghai's education opening up, this orientation party is not only a prologue to the youth of new students, but also demonstrates the practical wisdom of Shanghai universities to "use culture as a bridge and cultivate globally competent talents". Shanghai University of Finance and Economics will take this as a starting point to continue to deepen the construction of international education, so that students' second classroom activities can become a high-quality carrier for cross-cultural exchanges, and guide Chinese and foreign students to temper their global vision and cultivate cross-cultural literacy in practice.
