The 2025 Shanghai University International Student Alumni Symposium was successfully held

In order to strengthen the connection between international alumni and their alma mater, and promote resource sharing and win-win cooperation, the School of International Education of Shanghai University held the 2025 International Student Alumni Symposium on May 9 in the International Student Activity Room on Building V. Wang Lina, Secretary of the Party Committee of the International Department of Shanghai University, Yang Jing, Deputy Director of the Office of the Shanghai University Alumni Association, Chen Xiumeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the International Department of Shanghai University and Vice Dean of the School of International Education, Ouyang Xiaoqin, Director of the International Student Admissions Office of Shanghai University, and Miao Yu, International Student Counselor, gathered together with international students and alumni to talk about friendship and development.  

Secretary Wang Lina extended a warm welcome to the alumni who came from afar, emphasizing that international alumni are an important link in the international development of Shanghai University, and hoped that alumni would continue to support the construction of their alma mater and promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries.  

AHMED AMZATH, a 2015 alumnus and Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering, who is currently the Minister of State for the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of the Maldives, said that the training of his alma mater has laid a solid foundation for his career development after returning to China, and the speed of China's development is amazing. Class of 2024 alumnus and master of linguistics DEMARCO FEDERICO FABIAN (Wu Feide), a self-media blogger from Argentina, shared his fate with "Wu Nong's soft language", and he hopes that through a new perspective from foreigners, the dialect of Shanghai's suburbs will be heard by more people, especially young people, so as to better disseminate and protect it.

Subsequently, the alumni discussed how to strengthen alumni interaction and promote resource sharing. Deputy Director Yang Jing introduced the work achievements of the alumni association in recent years and said that the university will continue to optimize alumni services and build a closer global alumni network. Deputy Secretary Chen Xiumeng and Teacher Ouyang Xiaoqin exchanged views with alumni on topics such as international student enrollment and alumni resource integration, hoping to strengthen cooperation between the school and alumni associations and alumni enterprises in the future to provide more internship and employment opportunities for current students.  

      This symposium not only deepened the emotional connection between international alumni and their alma mater, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. Shanghai University will continue to give full play to its international advantages, cultivate more outstanding talents, and contribute to promoting global people-to-people exchanges and sustainable development.
