On November 23, the 9th Capital University International Student Martial Arts Competition of 2025 kicked off at Beijing Language and Culture University. A total of 10 international students from Beihang University's International Student Martial Arts Team participated. With their exquisite skills and indomitable spirit, they ultimately won 3 championships, 6 runners-up, 6 third places, as well as 3 fourth places, 1 fifth place, and 2 sixth places. Their outstanding performance earned them third place in the team total score, returning triumphantly with great glory!
Among the team members, there were freshmen who started from scratch and rose to challenges with pure enthusiasm; there were also sophomores and juniors who, with one or two years of training accumulation and competition experience, led the way in tackling difficulties and making continuous breakthroughs. During the preparation period, team members with multiple commitments polished their moves day and night and refined details repeatedly, using sweat and dedication to embody their sincere love for Chinese martial arts.
On competition day, the team remained energetic throughout the high-intensity schedule. Every move and stance showcased the vigor and charm of Chinese martial arts. When these foreign faces accurately captured the spirit of martial arts, and when moves blending hardness and softness transcended cultural barriers, their sincere love and dedicated inheritance of China’s excellent traditional culture were touching and pride-inspiring.
This highly accomplished team is rooted in the fertile soil of Beihang’s international student martial arts course. Coach Wang Shilong, deeply engaged in frontline teaching, has created this high-quality cross-cultural communication course with great enthusiasm. The course’s feature—“love as the foundation, inheritance as the soul”—has attracted many international students who truly love Chinese traditional culture. Regardless of prior experience, students can appreciate martial arts’ charm and temper their will through systematic teaching. Teacher Wang also carefully identifies potential, persistent students in class, invites them to join the team, injects continuous vitality into the team, and builds a positive interactive talent cultivation loop between the course and the team.
So far, Beihang’s International Student Martial Arts Team has completed all annual competition tasks this year, achieving a glorious record of 3 national championships, 2 national runners-up, 3 Beijing city championships, and 6 Beijing city runners-up!
Chinese martial arts are a treasure of Chinese culture, and Beihang’s team is a vivid epitome of cultural communication. From earnest imitation in class to full dedication on the field, they prove with actions: love knows no borders, and inheritance has power. Now, this vibrant team looks forward to more international students who love martial arts and are eager to learn Chinese culture joining them. As long as you have love in your heart and are willing to persist, you can grow and shine here.
May this cross-border martial arts bond continue to thrive, and may China’s excellent traditional culture be passed down through exchanges and mutual learning. We look forward to Beihang’s team achieving even better results in the future and continuing to write moving chapters of cultural integration!
