Queen Leticia of Spain visited Beijing Foreign Studies University

On November 13, Queen Leticia of Spain visited Beijing Foreign Studies University. Ren Youqun, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education of China, Yang Dan, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Wang Dinghua, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Foreign Studies, Jia Wenjian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President, and Zhao Gang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, attended the event. More than 300 Spanish teachers and students from the School of Spanish and Portuguese, the School of International Relations, the School of Education and other universities in Beijing participated in the event.

At the beginning of the event, Leticia, Ren Youqun, Yang Dan, Wang Dinghua, Jia Wenjian and others witnessed the commemorative plaque presentation ceremony, expressing gratitude and respect to the Spanish teachers who took the lead in teaching Spanish courses in Beijing and other universities in the 50s of the twentieth century.

In his speech, Ren Youqun said that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the West, and deep people-to-people exchanges and close educational cooperation are important sources of resilience and vitality in bilateral relations. He appreciated the positive achievements made by Chinese and Western universities in promoting language education cooperation, and said that the Ministry of Education of China will continue to provide support for youth exchanges and educational cooperation between the two countries.

In his speech, Jia Wenjian reviewed the 73-year development of the Spanish major of Beiwai and thanked Leticia for fully affirming Beiwai's contribution to the long-term promotion of Spanish language and culture teaching and research, and the people-to-people ties between China and the West. He emphasized that the dialogue of civilizations is inseparable from the soil of education, and the significance of foreign language education is not only to impart knowledge, but also to cultivate a broad mind that is beautiful and beautiful. Beijing is willing to continue to deepen practical cooperation with Spain in various fields such as education and culture, and inject new impetus into the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership.

Chang Fuliang, Dean of Beiwai Spanish and Portuguese Language College, introduced the development process and construction of Spanish professional teaching and research in Beiwai and other universities across the country. Marco Keying, a Spanish student majoring in Beiwai University, and Alberto, a student majoring in international relations, had a dialogue in Spanish and Chinese respectively, exchanging the original intention and significance of learning each other's languages, and shared their experiences and insights during their studies, showing the mutual enlightenment and resonance between Chinese and Western youth on the road of language learning.

Subsequently, Leticia learned about the research and exchange results of Spanish teaching in Beiwai with great interest, and had cordial and friendly exchanges with the teachers and students on site.

Beijing Foreign Studies University

It is one of the first batch of "211 Project" universities, "985" advantageous discipline innovation platform universities, the first batch of "double first-class" construction universities, and one of the six "small-scale pilot universities" of the Ministry of Finance. He is a member of the Sino-Russian Comprehensive University Alliance, and has been selected as the "2011 Plan", the National Construction of High-level University Public Graduate Program, and the National Cultural Quality Education Base for College Students.

The school began in 1941 as the Russian team of the Third Branch of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University in Yan'an, and later developed into Beijing Foreign Language School in 1949 after going through major stages such as the Russian Language School of the Central Military Commission, the Yan'an Foreign Language School, the School of Foreign Languages of North China United University, and the Central Foreign Affairs School. In 1954, Beijing Foreign Studies Institute was established with the approval of the State Council. In 1959, Beijing Foreign Studies University merged with Beijing Russian Language Institute to form a new Beijing Foreign Studies Institute; In November 1981, it was approved as a master's and doctoral degree authorization site, becoming one of the first units in China with the authority to confer master's and doctoral degrees. In 1994, it was renamed Beijing Foreign Studies University.
