Study in China, Build Dreams for the World!

Beijing Union University organized international students to explore the central axis of the ancient capital

In order to help international students gain an in-depth understanding of Chinese history, culture and urban development vitality, on November 8, the school organized international students in China to carry out the research activity of "Exploring the Central Axis of the Ancient Capital and Feeling Inheritance and Innovation". Following the historical context of Beijing's central axis, the international students successively entered the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, the Temple of Heaven, and the Beijing Ceramic Art Museum, touching the cultural roots during the field visit and feeling China's development in the blend of ancient and modern.

The first stop of the event arrived at the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, which integrates display, science popularization and exchange, and has become a "three-dimensional textbook" for international students to perceive Beijing. In the space on the fourth floor of the exhibition hall, the exhibition panels are full of pictures and texts, the light boxes are colorful, and the models are magnificent and realistic, with precious pictures and art sculptures, systematically outlining the evolution trajectory of Beijing from the ancient capital to a modern international city, and presenting the brilliant achievements of the capital's urban planning and construction in an all-round way.

Visiting the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall Under the careful guidance of the docent, the international students listened carefully to the development overview of various regions in Beijing, stopped to stare at the overall model of Beijing, and intuitively felt the exquisite conception and development pulse of the urban layout. International students have said that through the immersive visit, they have a more vivid and profound understanding of Beijing's historical changes and modern charm.

Visiting the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall Following the historical texture of the central axis, the second stop was the international students walking into the Temple of Heaven Park. As a model of ancient Chinese royal worship complex, the Temple of Heaven has deeply impressed international students with its rigorous layout, exquisite craftsmanship and heavy cultural connotation. In front of the core buildings such as the Hall of Prayer for the New Year and the Round Mound Altar, international students listened to the historical origins and architectural regulations of the Temple of Heaven, looked up at the ingenuity between the cornices and corners, and felt the philosophical thought and etiquette culture of "the unity of heaven and man" in ancient China. The red walls and blue tiles reflect the clear sky, and the palace is majestic, and the international students stop from time to time to take pictures, exchange insights, and immerse themselves in the breadth and depth of traditional Chinese culture in the changing scenery.

The third stop is the Beijing Ceramic Art Museum, where a collision of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology is staged. Under the leadership of professional docents, international students traced the thousand-year-old context of ceramic art, from simple faience to exquisite Ming and Qing official kilns, each exhibit made everyone feel the generational inheritance of craftsmanship spirit and the accumulation of cultural connotations. In the most anticipated practical session of the visit to the Beijing Ceramic Art Museum, the students personally participated in the creation of ceramic mosaics, turning the iconic buildings of the central axis such as the Temple of Heaven and the Bell Tower into works of art at their fingertips, and deepening their understanding of the central axis culture in the process of pasting. In addition to creation, the "CyberDance" experience project ignited the atmosphere of the scene - the innovative integration of modern technology and fun sports, allowing international students to sweat in the science fiction scene intertwined with light and shadow, feel the audio-visual feast in the interactive competition, and personally appreciate the wonderful resonance of traditional culture and modern innovation.

This trip to explore the central axis has built a bridge of cultural exchange in the form of a "walking classroom". In the future, Beijing Union University will continue to improve the national education system for international students with excellent traditional Chinese culture as the main line, continuously enrich the forms of activities, expand the dimension of education, integrate China's national conditions and cultural charm into all aspects of education and teaching, help international students more truly perceive the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China, enhance cross-cultural understanding and identity, and let the Chinese cultural context continue to be passed on in international exchanges.
