Preventing campus fires is a long-term and unremitting work, and learning fire protection knowledge is an indispensable lesson for students during their school studies. On the occasion of the National Fire Protection Day, in order to do a good job in campus fire safety education and improve students' fire safety awareness and escape and self-rescue ability, on the afternoon of October 31, the International Student Center and the School Security Department jointly organized a fire safety practical training activity for international students in China. The training was delivered by Mr. Sun Cong of the Security Department, and more than 100 international students from China participated.
01 Explanation of fire protection knowledge
First of all, Mr. Sun introduced the common fire hazards on campus, the key points of fighting the initial fire, and the correct method of emergency evacuation.
Next, Mr. Sun systematically explained the dry powder fire extinguisher to the students. Starting from the principle of fire extinguishing, the main components and the composition of components, he introduced its scientific foundation and working method in simple terms, and gradually demonstrated the operation essentials of "lifting, pulling, grasping and pressing", laying a solid foundation for the next practical exercise.
02 Fire drill
In the subsequent practical exercise, the students in China were divided into groups to conduct actual combat operations of fire extinguishers. Under the professional guidance of Mr. Sun, everyone gradually learned and practiced the key steps of operating the fire extinguisher, had an intuitive experience of the fire extinguisher's fire extinguishing effect, and effectively improved the practical operation ability of extinguishing the initial fire.
After the drill, Mr. Sun explained to the students that in addition to dry powder fire extinguishers, fire-fighting equipment also includes fire hydrants, fire blankets and other types. He specifically reminded that dry powder fire extinguishers are not suitable for all fire scenarios, and the corresponding fire-fighting equipment should be reasonably selected according to the type of igniting material and the size of the fire when actually used.
