On October 18, 2025, the final of 4th SFLEP Cup Hubei Province College Students' Intercultural Competence Contest came to an end. The team composed of international students from Hubei University, MIGUEL DE OLIVEIRA MANACERO (Brazilian, playing the role of a Chinese student), PAULINE SILVA RODRIGUES (Brazilian), and CONCEICAO DE MADRE DE DEUS  JUDICILEY (from SAO Tome and Principe), stood out with their original situational drama "The Dragon's Harmony: Unified Symbols, Shared Colors", winning the grand prize with the highest total score and successfully advancing to the national finals.

The repertoire revolves around "forming an international dragon dance team", vividly presenting the cultural conflict and wisdom integration of the three students at the three levels of cognition, communication and symbolism. Ma Feilong (played by a Chinese student) starts from the translation misunderstanding of "dragon" and "dragon", and cleverly guides the team to understand the cultural connotation of the Chinese dragon as an auspicious fusion; In the face of the contradiction between Pauline (euphemistic communication) and Judy Li (direct expression) due to feedback during rehearsals, the repertoire shows the communication and mediation strategy of "both rigidity and softness"; In terms of clothing color selection, the team finally reached a consensus on "yellow", which means respect for differences and diversity and inclusion.

The play revolves around the theme of "forming an international dragon dance team," vividly portraying the cultural clashes and intellectual integration among three students across three dimensions: perception, communication, and symbolism. MIGUEL DE OLIVEIRA MANACERO (playing the role of a Chinese student) starts with the translation misconception between "loong" and "dragon," skillfully guiding the team to understand the cultural connotations of the Chinese dragon as an auspicious and harmonious entity. In addressing the conflict between PAULINE SILVA RODRIGUES (indirect communication style) and CONCEICAO DE MADRE DE DEUS  JUDICILEY (direct communication style) during rehearsals due to different feedback approaches, the play demonstrates a communication and mediation strategy of "blending firmness with flexibility." Furthermore, when it comes to the choice of costume colors, the team ultimately reaches a consensus on "yellow," symbolizing respect for differences and harmonious coexistence in diversity.

“表演不只是展示文化,更要展现文化之间如何对话”,团队成员马飞龙赛后谈到。 在陆小丽、李临风、李增添老师的指导下,同学们将舞龙技艺与跨文化理论相结合,借助角色反串、多语阐释与图腾共创等形式,提出具有实践意义的解决跨文化冲突的路径。

"Performance is not just about displaying culture, but also about showcasing the dialogue between cultures," said team member MIGUEL after the event. Under the guidance of teachers Lu Xiaoli, Li Linfeng, and Li Zengtian, the students integrated dragon dance techniques with cross-cultural theories. Through methods such as role reversal, multilingual interpretation, and the co-creation of totems, they proposed practical pathways to resolve cross-cultural conflicts.
