The National Russian Language Competition for Universities is organized by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education and is the most important competition for Russian language majors in the country. As one of the institutionalized projects of China-Russia people-to-people cooperation, the competition has always shouldered the important mission of selecting outstanding Russian language talents, promoting the reform of Russian language teaching, and deepening people-to-people exchanges between China and Russia. The competition has multiple links such as written tests, proposition speeches, impromptu expressions, and Russian-Chinese translation, which put forward high requirements for the contestants' basic Russian language skills, depth of understanding of Chinese and Russian cultures, translation and expression skills, and other comprehensive literacy.

A total of 416 contestants from 163 universities participated in the online preliminary round, and the number of participants reached a record high. In the end, 60 contestants advanced to the semi-finals, won the first, second and third prizes of the competition, and received full scholarships from the China Scholarship Council to study in Russia.
