From October 12th to 15th, the National Finals of the China International University Student Innovation Competition (2025) were held at Zhengzhou University. A total of 10 projects of our school were shortlisted for the national competition, among which two teams, "Brain Engine - A New Scheme for Multimodal Neural Modulation to Improve Motor Ability" and "Intellectual Pioneer - Pioneer of AI Action Recognition, Feedback and Optimization System Change" successfully advanced to the national finals on-site competition. After fierce competition, the "Brain Engine" project won the gold medal in the main track of higher education, achieving a historic breakthrough of "zero" in the gold medal of the main track of the top event. In addition, our school has also won 8 bronze awards, and the number and quality of awards are a record high. Up to now, our school has won a total of 24 national awards (3 gold, 3 silver, 18 bronze) in this competition, ranking first in the national sports university.
With the theme of "I dare to break through, I will create", this competition attracted 5,673 universities, 6.19 million projects, and 24.43 million participants from 161 countries and regions around the world. A total of 4,720 projects were shortlisted for the national finals, covering five categories: the main track of higher education, the "Youth Red Dream Building Journey" track, the vocational education track, the industrial track and the budding track, and the scale reached a new high.
Our school has always integrated innovation and entrepreneurship education into the whole process of talent training, relying on the compulsory course "Introduction and Practice of Sports Innovation and Entrepreneurship", the future sports entrepreneur talent training platform and the innovation and entrepreneurship competition system, and comprehensively built an integrated education mechanism of "course teaching-project cultivation-competition improvement-achievement transformation". In 2025, our school will complete 1,203 registration projects for the municipal competition, and finally select 30 outstanding teams to participate in the Shanghai finals after the three-level selection mechanism of "college competition - school-level preliminary competition - school-level final", achieving excellent results of 8 gold, 6 silver and 12 bronze, and the multi-track layout and award level have reached a record high. The Shanghai Municipal Education Commission awarded the "Excellent Organization Award" to the main track of higher education in our school, which fully affirmed the effectiveness of our school's systematic competition organization and students' innovation ability training.
Since the launch of the competition in January 2025, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship has taken the lead in coordinating and the secondary colleges have coordinated to form an efficient linkage organizational model. The college systematically plans the work of the annual event, and has successively held special defense meetings for key projects, training camps for future sports entrepreneur talent cultivation projects and innovation competitions, 6 special lectures and more than 30 one-on-one project counseling. During the summer, the college organized two rounds of national qualifying competitions and multiple rounds of expert guidance, and invited industry experts to provide accurate guidance to the project team from the dimensions of innovation, business logic, social value, and roadshow strategy according to the evaluation standards of the national competition. In the end, a total of 10 projects of our school were shortlisted for the national competition online evaluation, including 5 main tracks of higher education, 3 tracks of "Youth Red Dream Building Journey", and 2 industrial tracks, achieving breakthroughs in multiple tracks.
This year, our school also hosted and organized the "Youth Red Dream Building Journey" activity in the Shanghai Division of the China International University Student Innovation Competition (2025). With the theme of "Taking Root Down and Growing Upward", the event brought together outstanding red tourism projects from universities in the city. As one of the two outstanding Red Brigade exhibition projects in the city, our school's project "Integrity and Innovation, Wuhun Digital Transmission - Chinese Wushu Digital Renewal Leader", on behalf of the school, exchanged and displayed achievements, further enhancing the school's influence in the track.
In the preparation stage of the national competition, the College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship carried out "one-on-one" promotion counseling for the "Brain Engine" and "Intellectual Pioneer" projects that advanced to the national finals, and invited a number of industry experts to carry out more than 10 defense simulations and practical exercises, comprehensively improving the level of team project display and roadshow, and helping the participating teams stand out in the national arena.
Shanghai Sport University has deeply studied and implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important reply to the China International College Student Innovation Competition, actively guided young students to have the courage to innovate and practice, transformed what they learned in the classroom and laboratory into innovative achievements to solve practical problems, and integrated their personal ideals into the great practice of building a strong country and national rejuvenation. The school has always regarded innovation and entrepreneurship education as an important part of talent training, adhered to the working principle of "early deployment, early action, and early cultivation", continued to improve the innovation and entrepreneurship education system, and continuously improved students' innovation awareness and practical ability. With the great attention and strong support of the school leaders, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship has deepened the education model of "promoting teaching, learning and innovation through competition" with high-level competitions as the traction.
In recent years, the school has achieved fruitful results in innovation and entrepreneurship education, and has repeatedly achieved good results in the China International College Student Innovation Competition (formerly the China International "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition), winning the national gold medal in the Red Brigade Track in 2019 and 2023, the national silver medal in the main track of higher education in 2020 and 2024, and the national bronze medal in the main track of higher education every year. In the future, the school will continue to optimize and upgrade the innovation and entrepreneurship education system, focus on the integration and innovation of sports science and technology, further promote the implementation and transformation of our school's innovation achievements, expand the new path of industry-university-research integration, create more original, leading and socially valuable innovation projects, and cultivate new forces of sports innovation and entrepreneurship that are future-oriented and serve the society.
