On November 9th, 17 international students from the International College of Zhejiang University of Technology traveled to Shanghai to visit the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE). This year's CIIE was an unprecedented grand event, and the Technical Equipment Exhibition Area and Artificial Intelligence Zone—key focus areas for the students—turned out to be a visual feast of technology and innovation.
In the exhibition areas, from precise and dexterous industrial robots to smart and efficient overall solutions, from impressive "intelligent manufacturing" heavy equipment to AI applications penetrating every corner of daily life, all exhibits left the students deeply shocked. They stopped at various booths, actively communicated with exhibitors, gained in-depth insights into the application scenarios and development trends of cutting-edge technologies, and combined with their own majors to contemplate how technology shapes the future.
"As an environmental engineering student from Indonesia," Joana shared, "witnessing the outstanding performance of AI technology in environmental monitoring and pollution warning at CIIE has been truly inspiring. This confirms my belief that future environmental protection must rely on the deep integration of environmental engineering with disciplines like artificial intelligence. I hope to contribute to addressing global environmental challenges through concrete actions."
This visit to the CIIE was more than an eye-opening field trip; it served as a bridge connecting knowledge with application, and China with the world. It has inspired these international students to keep pace with the times and become a future force driving global technological progress and cooperation.
Zhejiang University of Technology (Zhejiang University of Technology)
Also known as Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT), it is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. It is a full-time regular higher education institution sponsored by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the first university jointly built by the province and the ministry in the eastern coastal region, and one of the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang Province jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, as well as one of the first batch of leading universities in the national "2011 Plan".
Zhejiang University of Technology was founded in 1953, with its origins tracing back to the Zhejiang Secondary Industrial School established in 1910. It has gone through development stages such as Hangzhou Chemical Industry School, Zhejiang Chemical Industry College, Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Industry, and Zhejiang Institute of Technology. It was renamed Zhejiang University of Technology in 1993. In 1994, 1999, and 2001, Zhejiang Economic Management Cadre College, Hangzhou Shipbuilding Industry School, and Zhejiang Building Materials Industry School were successively merged into Zhejiang University of Technology. In June 2009, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province and the Ministry of Education signed a joint construction agreement, and the university entered the ranks of province-ministry jointly built universities. In May 2013, it became one of the first batch of leading universities of collaborative innovation centers recognized by the national "2011 Plan". In April 2015, it was selected as one of the first batch of "provincial key construction universities" in Zhejiang Province.
