
Jiangnan University is a university directly under the Ministry of Education, a key university included in the national “211 Project” and a “Double First-Class” initiative university. It boasts a long history of running schools and profound cultural heritage, originating from the Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, and having gone through developmental stages including the National Central University and Nanjing University. Adhering to the discipline construction philosophy of “fostering strengths and compensating for weaknesses”, the university has established a sound disciplinary ecosystem. It houses 22 schools (divisions), covering 12 disciplinary categories including science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, literature, history, law, economics, management, education, art, and interdisciplinary studies. The university is equipped with 9 postdoctoral research stations, 13 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, such as Food Science and Engineering, Light Industry Technology and Engineering, Bioengineering, Design Science, Textile Science and Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Environmental Science and Engineering, Marxist Theory, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Optical Engineering, 3 professional doctoral degree programs including Biology and Medicine, Design, and Clinical Medicine, 35 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master’s degrees, and 22 professional master’s degree programs. Two disciplines, namely Light Industry Technology and Engineering and Food Science and Engineering, have been selected into the list of national “Double First-Class” construction disciplines. The university also has 5 disciplines approved for the Phase IV Project of the Jiangsu Provincial Advantageous Discipline Construction Project and 7 key provincial disciplines of Jiangsu Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
Eligibility
1.Nationality Requirement: The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen.
- Age Requirement: Age between 18 and 30 inclusive. For students under 18 whose parents do not reside permanently in China, an official power of attorney from their parents must be provided.
- Health Condition: Free from infectious diseases and physical or mental illnesses that may affect normal studies.
- General Requirements: Good moral character, friendly attitude toward China, and no criminal record.
- Academic Qualification: Must have completed senior high school education by September 2026 intake. Hold a senior high school graduation certificate; or a Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) from a Malaysian Chinese Independent High School, or Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), or A-Level certificate, or equivalent qualifications.
- Language Requirements:- Applicants for Chinese-taught majors must hold an HSK Level 4 certificate or above; applicants for liberal arts and history majors must hold an HSK Level 5 certificate or above. Those whose previous graduating institution is included in the list of Chinese-language schools of the current year are exempt from the HSK certificate.- Applicants for fully English-taught majors must have IELTS 5.5 or above, TOEFL 75 or above, CEFR Level B2, or other proof of English proficiency. Those whose previous courses were delivered entirely in English are exempt from the above English proficiency certificates.
- All undergraduate program applicants must take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) organized by the China Scholarship Council of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. For specific examination registration information, please visit the official CSCA website: www.csca.cn. The required test subjects vary by major at our university; for the specific subjects corresponding to each major, please refer to the “Undergraduate Enrollment Major Catalog” below.
Note: Applicants for the undergraduate major of Chinese Language and Literature who can provide a valid HSK Level 5 or above score report are exempt from the professional Chinese examination.
