
On October 15, Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Yotova visited Beijing Foreign Studies University. Jia Wenjian, president of Beiwai University and deputy secretary of the Party Committee, met with Yotova and his party.
Jia Wenjian introduced the basic situation of international exchanges and talent training in Beijing and foreign countries and the latest achievements in multidisciplinary integration and development. He said that Beiwai attaches great importance to the construction of Bulgarian language majors and disciplines, and hopes that the Bulgarian government and the embassy in China can continue to provide support and assistance to Beiwai. Beiwai is willing to give full play to its language advantages, actively promote exchanges and interactions between young scholars of the two countries, and contribute to enhancing the friendship between the two peoples. Yotova emphasized the importance of the development of humanities, looked forward to more exchanges and interactions between students and scholars in the two countries in the future, and said that the Bulgarian government is willing to work with North Korea to build friendship between the two peoples through educational cooperation. After the meeting, Yotova delivered a speech to teachers and students of Beijing Foreign Studies. The speech was presided over by Ke Jing, Dean of the European Institute of Languages and Cultures, and more than 200 teachers and students from the School of European Languages and Cultures, the School of Chinese Language and Literature, the School of English, the School of Education, the School of International Business School, the School of International Relations and other schools listened to the speech on the spot.
Jia Wenjian delivered a welcome speech on behalf of teachers and students from Beijing Foreign Studies. He said that Beiwai attaches great importance to people-to-people exchanges between China and Bulgaria, and has achieved fruitful results in the fields of Bulgarian language teaching, cultural research and promotion since the establishment of China's first Bulgarian language major in 1951, and has become an important platform for exchanges and cooperation among young scholars from the two countries. We look forward to taking this visit of Vice President Jotova as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation with all walks of life in Bulgaria, cultivate more young talents, let the young people of the two countries use language as a medium and academia as a bridge, and rejuvenate the friendship between China and Bulgaria.
In her speech, Yotova reviewed the 76 years of friendly exchanges between Bulgaria and China. She stressed that both Bulgaria and China have a long and rich history and culture, and mutual recognition is the key to understanding and cooperation. Today's world needs to build bridges rather than walls, and the close cooperation between Bulgaria and China in the fields of education and culture has set an example for the international community. She highly appreciated the achievements of Beiwai in talent training, affirmed Beiwai's important contribution to people-to-people exchanges and people-to-people ties, and looked forward to a higher level and in-depth academic cooperation between the two governments and universities on the basis of extensive student exchanges.
Subsequently, Yotova carried out dialogue and interaction with teachers and students of Beijing Foreign Studies, answered in detail the issues of global economic and trade cooperation, cross-cultural exchanges, and sports development that teachers and students of Beijing Foreign Studies are concerned about, and encouraged teachers and students of Beijing Foreign Studies to actively respond to various challenges in study and life in the future, persist in their dreams, and continue to explore and make progress. The interactive session was presided over by Lin Wenshuang, vice president of the Institute of European Languages and Cultures of Beiwai University.
Finally, Jia Wenjian presented Yotova with the calligraphy work "China-Protectorate Friendship for a Long Time" and the students' handmade origami Chinese dragon, expressing the good wishes of all teachers and students of Beijing Foreign Studies for the friendship between China and Bulgaria.
Before the start of the event, in order to express a warm welcome to Yotova and her party, teachers and students from Beiwai affectionately performed the song chorus "Jasmine", the guzheng solo "High Mountains and Flowing Water" and the Bulgarian song skewer "My Friend, How Are You", which won the unanimous recognition of the guests, and the atmosphere was warm and warm.
During the event, Yotova awarded the first-class medal of the Republic of Bulgaria "St. Cyril and St. Mettodi" to Ma Xipu, a specially invited researcher at the Center for Bulgarian Studies in North Foreign Studies, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to promoting the dissemination of Bulgarian history and culture in China.
