
On October 27, the 13th China-Europe Engineering Education Symposium opened at Dalian University of Technology. With the theme of "Digital Intelligence-Driven Change: Industry, Education and Innovation", this conference brought together nearly 100 experts and scholars from Chinese and European universities, government agencies and enterprises to discuss the path and prospects of engineering education innovation and development in the new era. Leaders and representatives from 15 Chinese and foreign universities, including the China Scholarship Council, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Dalian Municipal People's Government, and the Politecnico di Turin in Italy, the Polytechnic University of Lisbon in Portugal, the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji University, and Dalian University of Technology, attended the meeting.
At the opening ceremony, President Gao Xiang of our university signed the "SEEEP 2025 Roadmap" on behalf of Chinese universities and Professor Stefano Paolo Corniati, Rotating Chairman of the European side and President of the Polytechnic University of Turin. In his speech, he said that the roadmap is not only an important achievement of the cooperation between the EU-China Engineering Education Alliance, but also a guide for future action. He emphasized that in the face of the urgent need for global scientific and technological innovation and talent training, the engineering and technology community urgently needs to cultivate the next generation of leading talents and outstanding engineers with cross-cultural understanding, multidisciplinary integration capabilities and a sense of global responsibility. Dalian University of Technology is willing to work with China-Europe member universities to deeply participate in the affairs of the alliance, share wisdom, collaborate and innovate, share responsibilities, jointly build a new paradigm of future-oriented engineering education, cultivate international leading talents, build a closer and more dynamic China-EU engineering education community, and open a new chapter of cooperation.
Vice President Kang Xudong gave an opening speech on the topic of "Future-oriented Engineering Education Innovation and Talent Training", and Professor Roberto Zanino, Secretary General of the European Side, delivered an opening speech. Experts and scholars from many member universities of the SEE Alliance held in-depth dialogues on the two major topics of "Application and Challenges of Intelligent Technology in Engineering Education" and "Prospects for Cooperation between Chinese and European Institutions of Higher Education in the Field of Engineering Education", sharing the practical experience of various universities in engineering education reform and international cooperation. A parallel academic forum was set up, and the guests exchanged and discussed cutting-edge issues in the fields of "advanced micro-nano materials and intelligent design", "smart energy, transportation and sustainable development", and "robotics and artificial intelligence". The delegates visited the school history museum and industrial training center, Dalian Hengli Petrochemical Group and the Municipal Planning and Exhibition Center to experience the development history, engineering talent training characteristics, modern industrial practice and urban development planning of the school.
During the meeting, Gao Xiang and Kang Xudong met with the delegation of the Politecnico di Turin, the Royal Swedish Institute of Technology, and the Lisbon University of Technology, and conducted fruitful consultations on topics such as inter-university cooperation, teacher-student exchanges and scientific research collaboration.
