On the occasion of the United Nations Chinese Language Day, on April 17, more than 30 international students from Taiyuan University of Technology walked into the Shanxi Museum to visit the exhibition "Changes - Jin and Qin in the Spring and Autumn Period" to explore the historical code contained in the Jin Gongpan inscription and feel the breadth and depth of Chinese.
At the beginning of the event, the international students followed the docent into the exhibition hall. Exquisite bronzes stand quietly in the display case, behind which is the magnificent struggle for hegemony. The docent Han Ying used bilingual explanation to lead the students into that glorious history. Among them, the Jin Gong plate, which was a bronze ceremonial vessel of the Jin State during the Spring and Autumn Period, became the focus of the audience. The inner wall of the plate is engraved with more than 180 words of Jin Wengong's self-statement, "the words are extremely magnificent", showing the kingly temperament of a generation of overlords. The whole piece is full of strokes and flexible pen movement, showing international students the writing aesthetics of early Chinese characters. "The word 'Jin' is like two seedlings in the field, or it can be regarded as two arrows chasing the sun, with the meaning of rising......" During the visit, Han Ying also took out a golden card to inspire everyone to guess the meaning behind these seemingly unfamiliar words by dismantling Chinese characters.
The students actively participated in the interaction, and the ancient characters crossed the language barrier and once again radiated new vitality and vitality. Civilization is colorful because of exchanges and enriched by mutual learning. This practical activity of "crossing ancient and modern times and connecting China and foreign countries" has received enthusiastic praise from the participants.
At the scene, many students said that they would strive to be "international communicators" of Chinese culture and call on those around them to pay attention to and spread Chinese culture. In 2010, the United Nations Department of Public Information announced the launch of the United Nations Chinese Language Day, and set the Chinese Day as "Gu Yu" on the 24th solar term of the lunar calendar every year to commemorate the contribution of Cangjie, the "ancestor of Chinese characters". This year's theme is "Poetic China: Romantic Elegance", advocating the world to share the beauty of Chinese and express their love for Chinese culture.
