Tianjin University 2026 International Student (Undergraduate) Enrollment Brochure

Tianjin University currently has 67 undergraduate majors. The duration of the study is 4 years (5 years for the architecture major), of which three majors can be taught in English (pharmacy is only taught in English). Those who complete the prescribed teaching plan, pass the assessment and pass the graduation thesis defense will be issued an undergraduate graduation certificate. Those who pass the degree review will be awarded a bachelor's degree. In addition, all Chinese-taught undergraduates are required to achieve Level 5 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standards (undergraduates majoring in Chinese language must reach Level 6 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standards upon graduation or completion of their studies), and all English-taught undergraduates are required to achieve Level 4 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standards before graduation. 1. Application qualifications

1. For non-Chinese citizens, for those who were originally Chinese citizens and later became foreign nationals, our school implements the Ministry of Education's Foreign Letter [2020] No. 12.

2. Applicants must be between the ages of 18-25 and have graduated from high school. Applicants who are not yet 18 years old as of September 1 of the year of enrollment must submit the original notarized certificate of guardianship issued by the Tianjin Regional Notary Office, and the guardian must be a resident with permanent residence in Tianjin. Applicants should be of good character, in good physical and mental health, and willing to abide by Chinese laws and regulations and Tianjin University rules and regulations.

3. Language Proficiency:

Applicants for Chinese language proficiency test (HSK) scores should meet the following standards:

Undergraduate major of the School of International Education: 180 points (inclusive) or above in the new HSK level 4;

Other undergraduate majors: 180 points (inclusive) or above at the new HSK level 5.

Applicants for English teaching must have an English proficiency of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL80 or above (applicants from native English-speaking countries recognized by our school are exempted).

Note: Applicants whose mother tongue is Chinese or who use Chinese in high school are exempted from providing HSK scores as determined by our school.

2. Application time

Application period: October 15 to April 15, 2026

Note: Due to the limited number of scholarship places, students who apply for the scholarship are requested to submit their applications before April 1, 2026, please refer to the "Scholarships" section for details.

3. Application materials

1. Scanned copy of the original high school graduation certificate or notarized original (fresh high school graduates must submit the original high school graduation certificate or notarized copy after being admitted);

2. Scanned copies of the original or notarized original transcripts of all courses in high school; or scanned copies of internationally accepted standardized test scores (such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB, etc.);

3. A scanned copy of the transcript of the "Undergraduate Admission Academic Proficiency Test for Studying in China" (CSCA test) of the Ministry of Education of China;

4. Scanned copy of the first page of the passport (ordinary passport valid after September 1, 2026): For applicants who were originally Chinese citizens and later became foreign nationals, or applicants who hold foreign passports but one or both parents are Chinese citizens, they also need to provide proof of the applicant's naturalization time, renunciation of Chinese nationality certificate or foreign birth certificate, and scanned copies of visa records for entering and leaving China in the past four years;

5. Proof of Chinese or English proficiency (please refer to the application qualifications for specific requirements);

6. Applicants must truthfully inform their previous study experience in China from high school to the present. If it is verified that there is concealment or false reporting, the school has the right to unconditionally cancel the admission qualification.

7. Study plan (more than 600 words, written in Chinese for majors and English for English);

8. The "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" must be filled in Chinese or English and strictly followed the items listed in the form, and the results of the physical examination after October 1, 2025 will be deemed valid;

9. Applicants who have studied in China need to submit their passport visa page and a certificate of good school performance issued by their current school;

10. The certificate of no criminal record should be a supporting document within 6 months before the date of submission of the application (fresh graduates can submit a certificate of good performance in school);

11. Certificate of deposit issued by the bank or the income certificate of its financial guarantor;

12. The applicant is still under the age of 18 on September 1, 2026, and must submit a notarized certificate of guardianship;

13. Other attachments (such as award certificates, etc.).

Application Instructions:

1. All kinds of certificates, notarizations or certifications submitted by the applicant must be original in Chinese (or English); If the document is in another language, the original document and the notarized Chinese (or English) translation must be uploaded at the same time.

2. In the process of reviewing materials, Tianjin University may require some applicants to provide the original paper version of the application materials or require the applicant to go to the designated certification body for secondary certification. Applicants who provide false or false materials will be disqualified from admission and admission.

4. Application for admission process and methods

Step 1: Take the "Academic Level Test for Undergraduate Admission to Study in China".

Step 2: Fill out and submit the online application

Applicants should log in to the International Student Management System of Tianjin University (website: tju.at0086.cn/student), register and fill in the application information, and upload the required application materials within the specified time of Tianjin University.

Step 3: Attend the interview

After the school's review, students who meet the requirements will enter the interview, which will focus on the students' comprehensive quality and Chinese proficiency.

Step 4: Check the admission results and pay the fee

Admitted students (except for pre-admitted students of Chinese government scholarships) must pay a deposit of 7,000 yuan and an application fee of 420 yuan within the time specified by the school. Students give up coming to our school for study due to personal reasons, and the deposit and registration fee will not be refunded.

5. Scholarships

1. Chinese Government Scholarship (Type A) (Chinese only)

Applicants should apply directly through the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General in the local area, and fill in the first choice in the "Applying Institution" column as "Tianjin University" when filling out the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form". For the contact information of Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, please check the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. The application period is generally from November of the current year to the beginning of February of the following year. It is recommended that applicants apply to the Chinese embassy or consulate abroad after confirming their pre-admission qualifications, and the application deadline and other relevant information are subject to the release of the Chinese embassy or consulate abroad.

2.     6. Visa application and enrollment registration

    1. Admitted persons should go to the Chinese embassy (consulate) to apply for a study (X1) visa to China with an ordinary passport, "Admission Notice", "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China", "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" and all original physical examination reports, etc., and go to Tianjin University to complete the admission registration procedures at the time specified in the notice with the above materials.

    2. Tianjin University's autumn registration time is usually at the end of August or early September. When entering the school, freshmen must bring the original degree certificate required for the school to review their admission qualifications, and provide the original degree certificate certification issued by the graduation school or certification body. Those who do not meet the admission requirements will be disqualified.

    7. Fees (calculated in RMB)

    1. Application fee: 420 yuan (paid after admission, Chinese government scholarship winners do not need to pay);

    2. Tuition Fee Standard (RMB):

    General Major: 16,600 RMB (taught in Chinese)

    20,000 yuan (taught in English)

    Other majors: 26,000 yuan (architecture/software engineering/urban and rural planning/landscape architecture)

    Note: Tuition fees and scholarships are subject to the admission notice of Tianjin University.

    3. Accident and hospitalization medical insurance premium: 800 yuan/academic year;

    4. Accommodation fee: Depending on the campus and room type, it ranges from 15 to 60 yuan per person per day, please refer to the "Tianjin University Dormitory Bed Charging Standard" for details.

    Remarks: All the above fees are non-refundable once paid.
