On the morning of May 21, 2025, the 2024 undergraduate class of international students from the Department of International Chinese Education of the School of Foreign Languages of Chongqing University walked into Chongqing Midland International Warehousing and Transportation (Group) Co., Ltd. under the framework of promoting the theme course of "Understanding Contemporary China and Telling Chinese Stories Well" to start an immersive journey of global logistics exploration. This event was also the first outing of our department's project-based course "Understanding Contemporary China and Understanding Chongqing", which not only deepened the understanding of international students' understanding of China's logistics industry, but also stimulated their enthusiasm for telling Chinese stories.
Founded in 1994, Midland International Warehousing and Transportation (Group) Co., Ltd. has been rated as one of the top 100 freight forwarders in China, one of the top 50 in China in air freight by the Ministry of Commerce, and an export-oriented advanced unit by the Chongqing Municipal Government. At the beginning of the event, Mr. He Daoguo, President of the Group, warmly received the teachers and students, and systematically introduced the Group's development history, core business model and industry competitive advantages through vivid and detailed explanations. In the interactive Q&A session, Mr. He gave in-depth answers to the questions raised by international students about cross-border logistics operation and supply chain management, helping students build a basic cognitive framework for the logistics industry.
In order to deepen the learning effect, the company arranged three business backbones to carry out group exchanges with students. The groups had heated discussions on areas of interest such as vehicle export, border customs clearance, railway transportation and other international freight processes, and the application of intelligent warehousing technology.
The warehouse visit brought the event to a climax. Under the leadership of Mr. He and other backbones of the company, the students experienced the process of logistics operation up close. Changan Ford auto parts are shipped from all over the world to Chongqing for vehicle installation, and finally sent to global customers through logistics, which allows students to intuitively understand the important impact of logistics in the context of globalization.
This practical activity not only gave the international students an in-depth understanding of the operating mechanism of the logistics industry, but also helped them realize the important strategic position of logistics in international trade and global economic development, and stimulated their strong interest in the modern service industry.
