Mid-Autumn Festival Experience Meeting for International Students of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law

Autumn rhyme is full of charm, and osmanthus is fragrant. On September 28, 2025, in order to celebrate the upcoming traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival and promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, a unique "Full Moon Chapter" Mid-Autumn Festival cultural experience activity was recently held at the 615 Library of the School of International Education. Students from different countries gathered together to experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture in a variety of activities.

The event began with a rich Mid-Autumn Festival cultural documentary, tracing the long origin and rich cultural connotation of the Mid-Autumn Festival - from the myth and legend of Chang'e flying to the moon to the national sentiment of "full moon and reunion", laying a strong cultural atmosphere for the whole event.

"When will the bright moon be, ask the sky for wine". Subsequently, Mr. Li Jiaqi, a counselor of the School of International Education, explained to the students the famous poem "Water Tune Song Head, When Will the Bright Moon Exist" by the Northern Song Dynasty writer Su Shi, translated and explained this word sentence by sentence to the students present, and told the feelings of family and country and life philosophy behind this poem, so that Chinese and foreign students could deeply understand the artistic conception and emotions of Chinese poetry in the beautiful rhythm.

After learning about the profound culture of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the event site entered a relaxed and pleasant tea break. Chinese and foreign students sat together, tasting a variety of mooncakes, sweet mooncakes and laughter intertwined, not only satisfying the taste buds, but also shortening the distance between each other, and the atmosphere was warm and harmonious.
In order to deepen everyone's understanding of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese student volunteers Shi Haoyue and Zhou Yijie then took the stage to vividly tell and share the Mid-Autumn Festival customs, mooncake styles and other classic stories related to the moon in English, enriching everyone's three-dimensional cognition of this traditional festival.

In the hands-on session, under the guidance of volunteers, international students experienced the Mid-Autumn Festival paper lantern and lacquer handicrafts, which pushed the event to a climax. Under the guidance of the staff, the students enthusiastically made Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns. Cutting, assembling...... The unique lanterns gradually took shape in everyone's hands, and after lighting, they emitted a warm and soft light, symbolizing reunion and auspiciousness. The "lacquer fan" production experience made the scene full of classical art charm, and the international students cleverly used various colors of paint to sketch colorful patterns on the water surface, and then lightly covered the fan surface, and in an instant, a unique and colorful artwork jumped on the fan, and everyone appreciated the subtlety of traditional craftsmanship in actual operation.

The event also specially set up a "Mid-Autumn Festival Blessing Transmission" link. The host and the submitting students read aloud various Mid-Autumn Festival blessing cards submitted by the students on the spot, and the words were full of thoughts for their families, greetings to friends and beautiful vision for the future, and their sincere emotions deeply touched everyone present.

At the end of the event, all participating teachers and students held lanterns and lacquer fans made by themselves and took a group photo in front of the background of the venue decorated with Mid-Autumn Festival decorations, freezing the beautiful moments of joy, friendship and cultural integration of this night. # 2025 MID-AUTUMN #TRAVEL IN CHINA
