In order to help international freshmen quickly adapt to campus academic life, familiarize themselves with the library resource system and usage methods, and improve the efficiency of academic research, the school library held a special training on the use of library resources for international freshmen at 14:30 pm on September 26 in Classroom 308 of Teaching Building 3 of the International Park. This training is open to all international freshmen, attracting nearly 50 freshmen to participate, effectively achieving the expected goals.
A library resource training was held for international freshmen at 14:30 on September 26th in Classroom 308 of the Teaching Building 3, with 50 spots fully occupied by participants. Aimed at helping freshmen master library resources and improve academic efficiency, the training covered book borrowing guidance, electronic resource usage (including off-campus access), and special services tailored to their needs. Participants gave positive feedback, noting the training effectively helped them integrate into the campus academic environment.
This training closely focuses on the academic needs of international freshmen, covering all scenarios of resource use, and the content is systematic and meticulous. In terms of book lending guidance, Teacher Cheng Yanping of the school library clarified the borrowing authority of international freshmen and the borrowing period of single books, demonstrated the online and offline renewal operation process on the spot, and explained in detail the rules and procedures for handling the overdue borrowing, so as to help freshmen fully grasp the relevant regulations for book borrowing; In the teaching session of the use of electronic resources, the accurate retrieval skills are explained for the academic database system on campus, the acquisition path of electronic journals and e-books is guided, and the operation steps of accessing the library's electronic resources outside the school are demonstrated, including key links such as identity authentication and VPN use, so as to effectively solve the practical problems of freshmen using electronic resources outside the school. In the introduction of special services, in addition to the basic functions, the training also introduces the online reservation process of the library self-study area, the application conditions and operating specifications of the document delivery service, and explains the exclusive resources and services for international freshmen, so as to further expand the scope of freshmen's understanding of library services.
After the training, the freshmen gave positive feedback, generally believing that the training content was closely in line with academic needs and practical, and the freshmen said that through the training, they not only became familiar with the library resource system, but also mastered the key methods of resource retrieval and use, which played an important supporting role in the follow-up course learning and scientific research work, especially solving the problem of accessing electronic resources outside the school. This training has laid a solid foundation for international freshmen to quickly integrate into the academic environment on campus, effectively reducing the "adaptation period" for freshmen in obtaining academic resources, helping them to transform from "campus newcomers" to "academic participants" more quickly, and being able to use library resources to carry out academic activities more efficiently in the subsequent course paper writing and initial research of scientific research projects.
