
➭ Eligibility
1. Non-Chinese citizens who have graduated from high school or have obtained a high school diploma and are in good physical and mental health;
2. According to the provisions of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China [2020] No. 12:
According to Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, if both or one of the parents are Chinese citizens and settle in a foreign country, and they have foreign nationality at birth, they do not have Chinese nationality. In addition to meeting other application qualifications of the school, they should also hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have actually lived in a foreign country for more than 2 years from May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2026 (actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to entry and exit signatures). Applicants who immigrate from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan and apply for international students to study at the undergraduate level of our university after obtaining foreign nationality should also meet this requirement.

➭ Application materials
Academic-related application materials
- Transcript of the "Academic Proficiency Test for Undergraduate Admission to Study in China" organized by the China Student Fund Management Committee of the Ministry of Education of China (please visit the official website of the Undergraduate Admission Academic Proficiency Test for Studying in China www.csca.cn view) organized by the China Scholarship Council (for specific test content, time, subjects and other information).
2. High school graduation certificate, the original expected graduation certificate issued by the school submitted by fresh high school graduates;
3. Transcripts of all courses in high school;
4. Personal statement: Include a personal profile and explain your understanding of China, reasons and expectations for studying at Huazhong University of Science and Technology;
5. Self-introduction video: self-introduction in Chinese or English within 60 seconds;
6. Proof of language proficiency:
● Applicants for Chinese-taught programs:
Science and Engineering and Medicine: HSK4 score of 180 or above
School of Economics and Management Humanities, School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation: 180 points or above in HSK5 of the Chinese proficiency test
Those who do not meet the Chinese language proficiency standard need to tutor at the Chinese as a Foreign Language Teaching Center of our school until they meet the Chinese proficiency requirements before they can apply for undergraduate study. If the applicant's pre-education is taught in Chinese or the mother tongue is Chinese, HSK scores are exempted if it is deemed to be Chinese.
● Applicants for English-taught programs:
Good English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are required.
TOEFL 80 points, IELTS 5.5 points, Duolingo 110 points and above.
If the applicant's pre-education is taught in English or the mother tongue is English, the applicant may be exempted from providing proof of English proficiency if it is determined that he or she is not required to provide proficiency certificates.
- Other supporting materials that can prove learning ability and comprehensive quality, such as award certificates, scientific and technological achievements, published papers, participation in activities, etc., 5 or more personal art works must be provided when applying for architecture and design-related majors;
Materials related to personal information
- Scanned copy of ordinary passport (latest valid passport, valid until or after October 15, 2027);
- Applicants currently residing in Chinese mainland need to provide a current valid visa or residence permit page;
- Applicants who fall under category 2 of the eligibility criteria are required to submit:
(1) All passport personal information pages that have been held;
(2) All visas, residence permits, and entry-exit signatures that have entered and exited Chinese mainland (mainland), Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan have been legally residing in the area.
- Foreigner's Physical Examination Form;
- Certificate of no criminal record;
- Proof of personal financial means or financial guarantee (US$5,000 or more);
- Applicants under the age of 18 by September 1, 2026 are required to submit a guardian's power of attorney and a guardian's guarantee in China.
*The above materials must be available in Chinese or English, and official notarized translations must be provided for other languages.

- Log in to the International Student Admissions and Management Service System of Huazhong University of Science and Technology

- Select a specific project, upload academic-related application materials, and submit the application after confirming that it is correct.
- Pay the application fee;
- After passing the department interview* and receiving the pre-admission results, upload personal information related materials and submit them after confirming that they are correct.
- Wait for the final admission results.

Remarks:
● The uploaded documents should be clear, complete, true and valid, otherwise they will not be accepted;
● All applicants need to apply online through the International Student Online Application and Service System, and other application methods will not be accepted. After the application is completed, please do not mail any paper application materials or send them by email;
● After the application is completed, you should regularly log in to the International Student Admissions and Management Service System of Huazhong University of Science and Technology to check the admission progress, keep your contact number open and pay attention to emails in a timely manner. Applicants can log in to the system after March to check the pre-admission results, and students who have obtained the pre-admission qualifications must pay the tuition fee for the first academic year within two weeks from the date of release of the pre-admission results to confirm the pre-admission results. The official admission letter and the application form for study visas for foreign students are expected to be issued in June.
