Wuhan University held the third phase of the Chinese Culture Knowledge Competition for International Students

On October 18, the third phase of the Chinese Culture Knowledge Competition for International Students of the School of International Education of Wuhan University was successfully held. The event aims to further promote the international dissemination of excellent traditional Chinese culture, deepen people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries, enhance international students' understanding and recognition of Chinese culture, and create a cultural exchange platform integrating knowledge, fun and interaction.

Lei Shifu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of International Education of Wuhan University, delivered a speech. He quoted General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition that "civilization is colorful because of exchanges, and civilization is rich because of mutual learning", pointing out that Chinese culture has a long history, is broad and profound, and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind is inseparable from exchanges and mutual learning between different civilizations. He encouraged international students to observe China with the eyes of young people and tell China with the voice of young people, not only to become witnesses and learners of Chinese culture, but also to become advocates and practitioners of exchanges between Chinese and foreign civilizations, and to show the world a real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China.

Since its inception, this competition has attracted enthusiastic attention and active participation from the majority of international students, with a total of 36 teams from more than 40 countries signing up for the preliminary stage. After strict written examination and screening in the early stage, 20 teams finally stood out and successfully advanced to the finals, fully demonstrating the strong atmosphere of Wuhan University's international education and the strong attraction of Chinese culture across borders.

The atmosphere of the final was tense and warm, and the schedule was interlocked, divided into three links: "mandatory questions", "rush questions" and "risk questions", covering Chinese history, literature, philosophy, art, folklore and other fields.

In the first round of the "must-answer questions" session, the contestants were well prepared and answered calmly, showing solid cultural accumulation.

Entering the second round of "rushing to answer questions", the pace of the game suddenly accelerated. The players of each team were engrossed, racing against time, and the answering machine prompts came and went, and the contestants reacted quickly and cooperated tacitly, and their wonderful performances won bursts of applause from the scene.

The third round of "risk questions" is even more suspenseful. Each participating team can choose a question with a score of 10, 20 or 30 points to challenge according to their own scores. Each team either strives to be safe and consolidate its advantages, or catches up and gives it a go, and every change in score affects the heartstrings of the audience, rendering the tense atmosphere of the scene to the extreme.

During the competition, the commentator Fan Xiaoqing gave an in-depth interpretation of the Confucian philosophy of "do not do to others what you do not want to do", and vividly explained the essence of the four diagnosis methods of traditional Chinese medicine "looking, smelling, asking, and cutting"; Teacher Li Pei led the students to explore the profound connotation of the "Six Arts" of the ancient education system, and told the romantic tradition and cultural connotation of the Qixi Festival.

The in-depth sharing of the two teachers pushed the warm atmosphere of the scene to a climax. After nearly two hours of fierce competition, the "Team of Cambodian Students Who Doesn't Say What He Says to Me" composed of three Cambodian students, Zhong Meiting, Xie Shaomian, and Guo Yixiao, finally won the championship with their stable performance, quick answers and accurate answers. The "Cuiguo Break Their Team" and the "Filipinothaisian" team won the second and third places respectively.

After the competition, the leaders and teachers of the School of International Education presented honorary certificates and souvenirs to the winners, and took a group photo with all the contestants, freezing this unforgettable moment full of cultural atmosphere and youthful vitality.
