2026 Nankai University International Undergraduate Enrollment Brochure

The basic academic system of international undergraduate students at Nankai University is 4 years, and the 1+3 "college system" training model is implemented: undergraduate students study general studies in the School of International Education of Nankai University in the first year, and after the end of the first year, they enter the corresponding major for three years of professional study, and obtain a diploma from the major after graduation. In addition, all Chinese-taught undergraduate students are required to obtain an HSK6 score of 180 or above before graduation.

1. Application qualifications

1. Non-Chinese citizens; For those who were originally Chinese citizens but later became foreign nationals, they must comply with the provisions of the Ministry of Education's Jiao Wai Han [2020] No. 12.

2. Non-Chinese citizens who are over 18 years old (born before September 1, 2008), physically and mentally healthy, have a high school diploma or above, and hold a foreign ordinary passport. Applicants who are not under the age of 18 as of September 1 of the year of enrollment must submit a notarized copy of the guardian's power of attorney, and the guardian must be a permanent resident of Tianjin.

3. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs need to achieve a score of 180 or above in the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) Level 4, and the specific major application requirements are detailed in the 2026 Nankai University International Undergraduate Enrollment Catalogue.

2. Application time

October 20, 2025 - June 30, 2026

(The number of scholarships is limited, please submit your application before May 30, 2026, please refer to the "Scholarship Program" section for details)

3. Enrollment majors

Nankai University currently has 41 undergraduate majors, all of which are taught in Chinese, with a duration of 4 years (5 years for medicine). For details of the specific enrollment majors, please refer to the attached 2026 Nankai University International Undergraduate Enrollment Catalogue.

Nankai University implements a double parallel volunteer method for international undergraduate enrollment, and applicants can choose two majors to apply according to their personal interests, and submit the two majors in order. Please note that only the first choice is accepted for the two majors of Business Economics and Business Administration.

4. Application materials

1. Personal information page of ordinary passports valid until September 1, 2027 and later; Applicants currently residing in Chinese mainland need to provide a current valid visa or residence permit page;

*Once admitted, passport information cannot be modified until the enrollment is completed.

2. High school graduation certificate, fresh graduates need to submit a certificate of expected graduation issued by the school they attend. Notarized Chinese or English translations are also required for texts other than Chinese and English.

3. Transcripts of all courses in high school, and notarized Chinese or English translations of texts other than Chinese and English must also be provided;

4. A scanned copy of the transcript of the "Undergraduate Admission Academic Proficiency Test for Studying in China" (CSCA test) of the Ministry of Education of China;

5. Personal statement, filled in Chinese or English;

6. Transcript of 180 points or above in the Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK) level 4 (students who graduated from independent secondary schools in Malaysia do not need to provide proof of Chinese proficiency to apply for Chinese-taught majors);

7. A letter of recommendation issued by a teacher with the highest level of education (or an institution recognized by our school), written in Chinese or English;

8. Other documents that can prove learning ability and comprehensive quality, such as award certificates, published papers, etc.;

9. The "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners" must be filled in Chinese or English and checked in strict accordance with the items listed in the table, and the results of the physical examination after October 2025 shall be deemed valid;

10. Proof of financial guarantee;

    11. No criminal record certificate;

    5. Application process

    1. Take the academic level test for undergraduate admission to study in China

    International students applying for an undergraduate degree at Nankai University are required to take the "China Scholastic Competency Assessment" (CSCA test) organized by the China Scholarship Council of the Ministry of Education of the China People's Republic of China. For more information on CSCA and how to apply, please visit the official website (www.csca.cn).

    CSCA test scores are an important reference for our school to review the academic ability of applicants, so please be sure to prepare carefully. To ensure a smooth application process, it is recommended to take the CSCA test as early as possible and submit your results in a timely manner to allow sufficient time for subsequent review.     Students applying for undergraduate majors in Chinese International Education and Chinese Language (Chinese for Economics and Trade) of the College of Chinese Language and Culture can be exempted from the liberal arts Chinese subject if they submit a score of 180 points or above in HSK level 4.

    • Before the CSCA exam is held, applicants can only submit the information on the successful registration page when applying.

    2. Fill out and submit the online application

    Applicants should log in to the Nankai University International Student Service Platform to register, fill in the information and complete the upload of application materials within the time limit specified by Nankai University.

    3. Review and interview

    The school will review the applicant's materials. Applicants who pass the preliminary review will enter the review interview stage. The specific time of the interview is subject to the specific notice. The interview mainly assesses the applicant's language level and comprehensive quality ability.

    4. Check the admission results and pay the fee

    Admitted students (except for pre-admitted students of the Chinese Government Scholarship) must log in to the application system within the time specified by the school and pay the application fee of 400 yuan and the full tuition fee. After receiving it, the school will issue an electronic version of the "Admission Notice" and "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students to China" to the admitted applicants in July. Students give up coming to our school for study due to personal reasons, and the registration fee will not be refunded.

    If you are unable to pay online, you need to remit the tuition fee to our designated bank account, please be sure to indicate the application number and name accurately when remitting, and upload a scanned copy of the remittance voucher to the application system. Students who fail to pay the tuition fee in advance within the specified time will be disqualified.

    6. Scholarship programs

    1. Chinese Government Scholarship (Category A)

    Applicants should apply directly through the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General in the local area and complete the online application for international students at Nankai University. The application period is generally from November of the current year to the beginning of February of the following year. It is recommended that applicants apply to the Chinese embassy or consulate abroad after confirming their pre-admission qualifications, and the application deadline and other relevant information are subject to the release of the Chinese embassy or consulate abroad.

    2. International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship

    The International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship is only open to applicants majoring in Chinese international education. Applicants must also complete the Nankai University online application, obtain pre-admission and complete the online application for the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship (https://cis.chinese.cn/account/login). Applicants with excellent grades can receive a letter of recommendation from Nankai University for scholarship applications.

    3. Tianjin Municipal Government Scholarship/Study in Nankai Scholarship

    Applicants who are interested in applying for the "Tianjin Municipal Government Scholarship" and "Study in Nankai Scholarship" should check the corresponding "Apply for Scholarship" option when filling out the online application form.

    Funding content: including tuition subsidies and other expenses.

    Note: Only applicants who have passed the pre-admitted examination of Nankai University International Students are eligible for the Tianjin Municipal Government Scholarship nomination, and the scholarship level is determined according to the applicant's interview and application situation.

    Deadline: May 30, 2026

    *The quota, amount, selection criteria and final results of all scholarship programs are subject to the final decision of Nankai University and relevant scholarship authorities. The school has the right to adjust the scholarship method according to the actual situation of the year.

    7. Visas and enrollment

    Admission notices and required visa materials will be issued from July 2026. Admitted candidates must go to the Chinese embassy (consulate) abroad to apply for a study (X1) visa to China with an ordinary passport, admission notice, "Application Form for Visa for Foreign Students in China" and other relevant materials, and go to Nankai University to complete the admission registration procedures according to the time specified in the notice. Within 30 days of arrival in China, the X1 visa must be converted into a study residence permit.

    The specific time and arrangement of admission are subject to the admission notice. When registering, the school will review the student's personal information and materials, and if there is any violation or fraud, the admission qualification will be canceled immediately once verified.

    8. Expenses

    1. Application fee: 400 yuan (paid after admission, Chinese government scholarship winners do not need to pay).

    2. Tuition fee: 20,000-35,000 yuan/academic year, please refer to the admissions catalog for details.

    3. Accommodation fee: According to different room types and campuses, it ranges from 1,000-3,000 yuan per person per month.

    4. Medical insurance: 800 yuan/person/year. According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education, international students must purchase comprehensive medical insurance for international students during their stay in China.
