Yu Miao, associate professor of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, spoke as a teacher representative, he introduced the school's diverse and inclusive cultural atmosphere, and encouraged freshmen to bravely face challenges and actively explore. Zhang Zhipin, an Indonesian graduate student from the School of Artificial Intelligence, shared his insights on studying at the school and inspired international students to devote themselves to learning and chase their dreams at Xidian. Jason, a British graduate student from the School of Communication Engineering, spoke as a representative of the freshmen and shared his journey of choosing to study in China and study at Xidian. Su Ren, chairman of the International Student Union, reported on the annual work to the participating teachers and students, and welcomed international students to actively participate in various activities of the student union. After the speech session, the wearing ceremony of the international freshman school emblem was held.
In order to continue to innovate China's national education model, the School of International Education specially invited 8 inheritors in the field of intangible cultural heritage in Xi'an to serve as off-campus tutors, and held a letter of appointment ceremony to enrich the connotation of national education with intangible cultural heritage as a link; At the same time, the appointment of international student admissions ambassadors was launched, and letters of appointment were awarded to international students from 16 countries on four continents: Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States.
At the end of the orientation ceremony, the international students presented wonderful song skewers and dance performances, bringing the first stage of the event to a successful end with a multicultural style.
In the first lesson of the freshmen, Officer Yiyang of the Yanta Brigade of the Traffic Police Detachment of the Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau, Officer Zhang Lin of the High-tech Brigade of the Traffic Police Detachment of the Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau, Officer Cui Jiu of the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau of the Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau, and Officer Cao Lei of the Baisha Road Police Station of the High-tech Branch of the Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau respectively explained the knowledge of traffic safety, entry and exit policies, anti-theft and anti-fraud, and provided applicable legal knowledge and safety guidance for the freshmen.
Xidian University has been studying in China for more than 70 years, and since the 50s of the last century, it has welcomed 433 international students from 29 countries (regions) in the class of 2025, with an increase of 11.5% over last year and a total of more than 800 students. The school has always focused on improving the quality of education, and will continue to deepen educational and technological cooperation with the "Belt and Road" countries and enhance the brand influence of "Study in Xidian".
