Recently, the International Students Office, in conjunction with the University Security Office, carefully organized fire emergency evacuation and fire-fighting drills for international students residing in dormitories at Lan Yuan 6 Dormitory, Gan Yuan Village Student Apartments, and Song Lin Po Student Apartments.
This fire evacuation drill consists of three parts: emergency escape, equipment operation practice, and knowledge explanation. After the drill started, staff released simulated smoke and activated the alarm in the student apartments. Under the guidance of dormitory administrators and safety officers, international students evacuated quickly to the safe area along the predetermined route with bent postures and low positions. The entire process was tense yet orderly, effectively helping participants familiarize themselves with the evacuation procedure and key points of self-rescue in fire scenes.
In the subsequent fire equipment teaching session, staff from the Security Office explained and demonstrated on-site the usage of equipment such as fire extinguishers and fire blankets, with a focus on the operational essentials of fire extinguishers: "lift, pull, squeeze, sweep". International students participated enthusiastically and took turns practicing fire-fighting. Many students stated that this was their first time using a fire extinguisher by hand, and they found the experience very rewarding.
Finally, the head of the Security Office systematically explained fire safety knowledge to international students, including safe electricity use and the hazards of illegal electrical appliances. They also introduced the origin and significance of China's Fire Safety Day, emphasized that "no detail is too small in fire safety", and reminded everyone to always maintain safety awareness during their time at the university and master necessary prevention and self-rescue skills.!
After the drill, the International Students Office, together with the Security Office and property management staff, conducted dormitory safety inspections. Illegal electrical appliances found were uniformly stored, and relevant students were informed of dormitory electricity regulations and fire safety requirements. Everyone was guided to consciously comply with campus accommodation management regulations, jointly maintain a safe and harmonious living environment, and ensure personal and collective safety during their study in China.
The International Students Office attaches great importance to fire safety education for international students. This drill adopted the form of "theoretical explanation + practical training + scenario simulation", transforming abstract fire safety knowledge into profound hands-on experiences. It enhanced international students' safety awareness, improved their emergency response capabilities in critical situations, and deepened their understanding and recognition of the safety culture of Chinese universities. This laid a solid foundation for creating a safe, stable, and harmonious international campus environment.!
