Inner Mongolia University Hosts Peking Opera Cultural Experience Event for International Students

On the afternoon of November 14, the School of International Education of Inner Mongolia University held a Peking Opera cultural experience activity for international students. 29 students from Kalmyk State University in Russia, together with all teachers, participated and immersed themselves in the unique charm of Peking Opera art.

This event, themed "China's National Treasure - Peking Opera", integrates sessions such as special lectures, appreciation of classic excerpts, interactive experiences, and facial makeup making, presenting the profound connotation and modern charm of Chinese traditional art from multiple perspectives. Dr. Yang Bowei, an international Chinese teacher at the School of International Education of Inner Mongolia University, gave a special lecture titled "China's National Treasure - Peking Opera", systematically sorting out the historical context and artistic characteristics of Peking Opera to help students build a comprehensive understanding of Peking Opera.

Artists from the Inner Mongolia Peking Opera Troupe were invited to perform classic excerpts such as "Empty City Strategy" and "Mu Guiying Takes Command" on site. The gorgeous costumes, exquisite makeup, and melodious singing complement each other, vividly interpreting the artistic characteristics of different roles: sheng (male), dan (female), jing (painted face), mo (middle-aged male), and chou (clown). In the interactive experience session, international students eagerly tried on Peking Opera costumes and painted Peking Opera facial makeups by themselves, further experiencing the expressive language and cultural connotation of Peking Opera through practice.

As an important part of the continuous advancement of the second classroom construction for international students by the School of International Education of Inner Mongolia University, this event is another vivid practice to enrich students' Chinese cultural experience and expand the educational path. In recent years, Inner Mongolia University has always adhered to the mission of "spreading Chinese culture and promoting Sino-foreign exchanges", continuously creating high-quality cultural experience platforms to help international students deeply perceive a real and three-dimensional China, and contributing Inner Mongolia University's wisdom and strength to cultivating more cross-cultural envoys with both international vision and Chinese feelings, and promoting mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
