Successful Group Psychological Counseling for International Students at Nankai University (Study in China)

On the afternoon of November 13th, the College of International Education and the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Nankai University held the "Hello, New Students" group psychological counseling activity in Room 500 of the Chinese Language College at the Bali Campus. Led by counselor Liang Xuan, over 40 international students actively participated and experienced a journey of spiritual communication together in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

The activity centered on the theme of "Adapting to the New Environment and Building New Connections", with multiple interactive sessions designed to guide international students to enhance mutual understanding and communication in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. In the "Interpersonal Trace Hunt" session, students held cards with their personal characteristics or hobbies, actively communicated and looked for like-minded partners—creating a lively scene filled with laughter. In the subsequent "Collective Painting" activity, each group created works around the theme of "Nankai in My Heart".

Students took turns holding the brush and collaborated to sketch their beautiful visions of campus life with paintbrushes, while also improving their teamwork skills and Chinese expression abilities in the process. The final "Positive Feedback Exchange" session brought the entire activity to a climax. Students sat in a circle, exchanged sincere compliments and blessings, and kept cards with warm words as mementos—adding a touch of warmth to this winter.

This activity not only provided an effective platform for international students to release emotions and adjust their mentality, but also helped them enhance their sense of belonging and identity in a foreign country. Participating students expressed that they felt the warmth of the college through the group counseling activity. In the future, the college will continue to promote the construction of secondary psychological counseling stations, and carry out more mental health education activities that meet students' needs and integrate Chinese and foreign cultural characteristics. It will fully integrate psychological education into the entire process of international talent training, helping every international student grow positively on the Nankai campus.
