On the morning of November 1, 2025, the "Global Vision and Chinese Power" Future Talent Sailing Program (South China Normal University Station), jointly sponsored by the Sino-Foreign People-to-People Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education and South China Normal University, was successfully held in the lecture hall of the School of Education and Information Technology on Shipai Campus.
Professor Wang Zhijia, former director of the International Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration and special coordinator of the United Nations Environment Programme, led the expert team to give a lecture on the spot. Shui Lingling, Dean of the Graduate School of the University, Tan Weihong, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Shen Liling, Deputy Director, and Bi Yulong, Vice Dean of the Undergraduate School, attended the event. With the theme of "Global Vision, China's Power - The Growth Road of High-level International Talents", the event attracted nearly 1,000 teachers and students from our school and universities in the province to participate online and offline.
At the beginning of the event, Tan Weihong, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of the University, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the school, and Yu Changxue, Director of the Sino-Foreign People-to-People Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education, and Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, President of the United Nations University and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, delivered speeches through video, jointly sending a message to young students to broaden their international horizons and grow into high-level talents with global competitiveness.
In the keynote report session, Wang Zhijia, a high-level project expert, Chen Rui, an official of an international organization, Liu Ruiyu, a peer role model, and Qin Shaoyan, a high-level project mentor, shared topics such as "becoming a high-level international talent and responding to the underlying logic of the development of the times", "from campus to international organizations, what is the key to successful advancement", "I am an intern project officer in an international organization", "breaking out of the cocoon and becoming a butterfly, how high-level projects help and change the fate of students", etc., which were rich in content, vivid cases, and received enthusiastic responses.
The event also set up a "Global Vision Interactive Workshop", covering multiple sections such as "International Organization Vocational Traffic", "Accelerator for Advanced Study in Prestigious Schools", "International Organization Adventure Season for Competitive Charging Stations", "Academic Literacy of Competitive Charging Stations", and "Peer Assistance Circle", providing students with one-on-one resume tutoring, further education planning, international organization cognition, academic literacy improvement and internship experience exchange and other diversified guidance, helping students clarify their development direction and enhance their international competence. The atmosphere was warm, the exchanges were in-depth, and the results were remarkable.
This event is a vivid practice of the university actively implementing the global governance initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization+" conference to help cultivate high-level young talents with global vision and international competence. The event successfully built a platform for students to interact with officials of international organizations and outstanding peers. In the future, the university will continue to deepen cooperation with international organizations and contribute to the cultivation of more high-quality talents with "global vision and Chinese strength".
