The School of Integrated Circuits of Wuhan University was officially established, with Liu Sheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as the dean. On July 19, the reporter learned from the School of Integrated Circuits that as an important measure for Wuhan University to serve the national strategy and help the development of Hubei's integrated circuit industry, the college takes "thick foundation, strong intersection, and emphasis on practice" as the training concept, and plans to recruit 120 undergraduates in the first batch, simultaneously promote the training of undergraduates, masters and doctors, and is committed to creating a new model of talent cultivation with deep integration of "industry, university, research and application".
Integrated circuits are known as the food of modern industry, serving as a cornerstone in cutting-edge fields such as AI and smart cars. Liu Sheng introduced in an interview with reporters that the School of Integrated Circuits of Wuhan University has established stable cooperation with local leading integrated circuit enterprises, jointly built courses and laboratories, and created a three-level practice system of "classroom-platform-production line" guided by industrial demand, cultivated compound talents who "understand theory, technology, and design", and built a new training model of "industry, university, research and application". Jointly build the Wuhan Integrated Circuit Innovation Center with cooperative enterprises to jointly tackle the pain points of enterprises such as advanced packaging, wide bandgap semiconductor devices, memory chip stacking technology, and automotive-grade chip reliability.
It is understood that the School of Integrated Circuits of Wuhan University has set up majors such as microelectronic science and engineering, integrated circuit design and integrated systems at the undergraduate level, which are included in the college entrance examination enrollment plan, and the freshmen of the class of 2025 can directly apply for the college entrance examination through the college entrance examination volunteers, and at the same time support outstanding students in the school to transfer through the second selection. The first batch of colleges plans to recruit about 120 undergraduates (subject to the final announcement), and accept another 30 majors/year (or the second selection after freshmen enter the school); Simultaneously carry out undergraduate, master's and doctoral training, and deliver step-by-step talents from R&D to application for the industry.
