
On May 23, Beijing officially released the "Study Guide for Beijing International Students".
This guide focuses on the most basic and important information needs of international students in Beijing, and presents a variety of basic learning services. Available in 10 languages (Chinese, English, Korean, Japanese, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese), it seeks to be a practical and effective tool to improve the experience of foreign students in the capital and promote their lives.
The guide is divided into four sections: "Get to know Beijing", "Study in Beijing", "Integrate in Beijing" and "Stay in Beijing", focusing on the topics most relevant to young foreigners interested in studying in Beijing: "Understanding Beijing" and "Studying in Beijing". These sections present eight key topics: university and major selection, fees and scholarships, preparation of application documents, admission process and acceptance letter, preparation before traveling, basic registration process, integration into Beijing life and staying in the city.
The "Get to Know Beijing" section includes: Top 10 reasons to study in Beijing, China's view of higher education, the most popular majors for international students, how to check admission criteria and prepare necessary documents, reference for living and study expenses, ways to apply for scholarships, and the entrance examination process. "Study in Beijing" covers preliminary preparations such as visa application, travel reservations, cash, accommodation and luggage management, as well as the admission process, including registration, payment, medical insurance purchase and medical examination appointments. The "Integrate into Beijing" and "Stay in Beijing" sections provide useful information on SIM cards, bank account opening, mobile payments, accommodation registration, internships, and work permits.
The guide is available in print and digital versions. Paper copies can be obtained from the visa centers of Chinese embassies and consulates abroad and Chinese cultural centers abroad. The digital version is available on the Beijing International Portal (https://english.beijing.gov.cn), the official WeChat public account "Beijing Service" and the "Study in Beijing" international social network.
