Nanjing University's 2025 Chinese Speech and Recitation Competition for International Students was successfully held

In order to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, on the afternoon of September 26, the School of Overseas Education of Nanjing University successfully held the "Concentric Dream Realization, Praise China" Chinese Speech Recitation Competition for International Students. International students from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Hungary, Turkey, Malaysia and other countries gathered together to tell Chinese stories in their eyes and show the youthful power of cross-cultural exchange.

The event kicked off with a chorus "We Are All Dream Chasers" presented by Nguyen Thi Youth (Vietnam), Lin Xiuying (Thailand), and Nana (Armenia). The youthful singing ignited the atmosphere of the scene and also played a prelude to the journey of international students to pursue their dreams. Subsequently, the speech and recitation session began in turn.

Speech group

The themes of the speech session included "One Heart: Those Warm Little Things with China", "One Heart: Cross-Cultural Harmony and Difference", "Realizing Dreams: My Chinese Dream", "Praise China: Chinese Culture in Chinese", and "Praise China: I Resonate with China's Development at the same frequency". The contestants are either full of affection and share the warm moments of life in China; or passionate, depicting their own "Chinese dream"; or combine Chinese and foreign cultures to explain the power of understanding and friendship. They used sincere narration to interpret the spiritual connotation of "realizing dreams with one heart".

The content of the contestants' speeches was very vivid: some people shared that they could still find the warmth of "home" 2,000 kilometers away from home; some people expressed their desire to cherish their friendship and time in China; Some students summarized a word that is inseparable every day - "Shang" from the summary, telling the different understandings of the connotation of Chinese characters, which is both vivid and philosophical; Some students disassembled and interpreted the meaning of "home" from the glyphs: it is to have food to eat, to live in peace, it is the shore of the soul, and it is also the belonging of the soul.

Recitation group

During the recitation session, classic works such as "Ode to the Yellow River", "Wind Seeking Phoenix", "You Are the April Day in the World" and "Charcoal Seller" were performed with great enthusiasm - guqin soundtrack, scene reproduction and other forms were innovatively used by the students in the poetry recitation. The contestants conveyed the power and warmth in the poems with full emotions and sincere voices, fully demonstrating the charm and beauty of Chinese literature, and won bursts of applause from the audience.

Judges commented on Cao Liqian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Overseas Education, Chen Zhihong, Vice Dean of the Program, Director of the Public Teaching Department for International Students, Tang Shuxia, Deputy Director of the Teacher Development and Teaching Research Center, and Fu Qunshu, Counselor of International Students. Several teachers affirmed the performance of each contestant and praised everyone for vividly presenting a complete story through the cooperation of language, props and music. At the end of the competition, former deputy secretary Cao Li summarized, congratulating everyone on bravely standing on the stage and successfully completing the competition, hoping that everyone will continue to "have the same Nanda heart" and "realize a dream of growth" in the future.

Q&A session The competition site specially set up an interactive link of "Dream Knowledge Challenge". The audience actively participated in answering questions, which not only increased their understanding of Chinese culture, but also received exquisite gifts, and the atmosphere was warm and warm.

At the end of the competition, all the contestants and the staff sang "Blind Date and Love", and the singing was full of true feelings, pushing the atmosphere of the scene to a climax.

This event not only demonstrated the deep understanding of Chinese language and culture by international students at Nanjing University, but also set up a stage for them to exchange and learn from each other. The contestants told Chinese stories in Chinese, expressed cross-cultural understanding and friendship with sincerity, and showed the demeanor and responsibility of the international students in China in the new era. In the future, the School of Overseas Education will continue to create more opportunities for international students to express themselves and connect with the world, so that students can contribute to the strength of youth in telling Chinese stories and spreading the spirit of the Silk Road.
