
On June 26, the awarding ceremony of the 7th "Sun Yat-sen University Xia Shuzhang International Public Administration Graduate Scholarship" was successfully held at the School of Politics and Public Affairs Management of Sun Yat-sen University. Liang Chengyong, Deputy Director of the Office of International Students of Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Tan Ankui, Dean of the School of Politics and Public Affairs Management and MPA-CGDC Project Leader, Li Erda, Secretary General of the Guoqiang Public Welfare Foundation, and representatives of teachers and students of the college attended the meeting.
This scholarship covers 29 international students from 14 countries including Ethiopia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Botswana, and Uganda, who are studying in the "Master of Public Administration Program (China Governance)" of Sun Yat-sen University, mainly working in government agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the National Bank, the Federal Parliament, and the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Secretary-General Li Erda said at the award ceremony that the Guoqiang Public Welfare Foundation has long been deeply involved in the field of education and cultural promotion, has a deep relationship of cooperation with Sun Yat-sen University, and has donated and set up a number of funds to support the development of Sun Yat-sen University's education. Through this scholarship program, the foundation hopes to attract more outstanding international students, cultivate public management talents with a broad international perspective, become a solid bridge of friendship and cooperation between China and other countries, and promote the common development and prosperity of human society.
Ms. DENG ZEVIE MARQUEZ, the award-winning student representative from the Philippines, shared that the one-year study has opened up a new perspective for her to observe the world and has placed her in an international platform that combines knowledge learning, diverse exchange, and in-depth understanding. In the future, she will uphold the spirit of the school motto, strive to promote sincere dialogue between countries, and contribute to the development of China-Philippines relations; It will also tell the story of China to the outside world through personal experience, and encourage more people around them to observe, experience and listen with an open mind, and truly perceive China.
Sun Yat-sen University Summer Book Chapter Scholarship
Since 2017, the Guoqiang Public Welfare Foundation has donated the establishment of the "Sun Yat-sen University Xia Shuzhang International Public Administration Graduate Scholarship" to reward international students studying the "Master of Public Administration Program in Developing Countries (Chinese Governance)", encourage students to carry forward Mr. Xia Shuzhang's academic research spirit, promote the impact of China's public administration research on the international community, and support the school to cultivate global governance talents with international vision and knowledge of China and friendship to serve world peace and development. So far, 188 international students from 41 countries have been awarded the scholarship, most of whom are government officials, researchers from academic institutions and managers in related fields from countries along the Belt and Road and developing countries.
