Vice President Zhou Jianghong attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Zhou Jianghong pointed out that doing a good job in international student education is an important mission to serve the country's education opening up strategy, and it is also an inherent requirement for the school to move towards the forefront of world-class universities. He affirmed the progress of the school in enhancing the brand influence of "Study in Zhejiang University" during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, optimizing the student source structure, expanding characteristic projects and continuously improving the enrollment working mechanism, and also pointed out the current problems such as the level of student sources that need to be improved, the main role of faculties and departments is not fully played, and the global publicity needs to be further strengthened.
Facing the "15th Five-Year Plan", Zhou Jianghong emphasized the need to focus on key points, implement precise policies, and comprehensively promote the quality and efficiency of international student education. He put forward three requirements: first, to build a collaborative and efficient enrollment work system, improve the "big foreign affairs" pattern of intra-campus coordination, implement the main responsibilities of each department, form a joint force, and actively implement the "ZJU LIGHTS" action plan; The second is to focus on the connotation of quality and strengthen the quality management of the whole process. In the enrollment process, the entrance is strictly controlled; In the training process, it is necessary to accelerate the construction of training standards and quality assurance systems that are in line with world-class universities; The third is to adhere to precise efforts to achieve the dual improvement of student source structure and brand influence. accurately optimize the layout of student sources, attach importance to and expand international graduate training; Promote the combination of enrollment and training, and systematically build the global brand of "studying at Zhejiang University".

The school's predecessor was Qiushi College, founded in 1897, and closed in 1914. In 1928, National Zhejiang University was established on the site of Qiushi Academy. In 1937, the school moved westward, running schools in Zunyi, Meitan and other places, and moved back to Hangzhou in the autumn of 1946. In 1952, some departments were transferred to the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other universities, and the main part was reorganized into several colleges and universities in Hangzhou, and later developed into the former Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University. In 1998, the four universities with the same root and origin were merged to form a new Zhejiang University.
