On October 10, 2025, Liu Run, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University, led a team to Huangshan City, Anhui Province to attend the Huangshan Municipal Government and Tongji University Work Conference and Chamber of Commerce and the awarding ceremony of the "Perceiving China" Huangshan Base. Liu Li, vice mayor of Huangshan City, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Representatives of teachers from the Foreign Affairs Office, International Student Office, and National Institute of Innovation and Development of Tongji University, as well as heads of relevant departments such as Huangshan Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Education Bureau, Foreign Affairs Office, She County, and Yixian County, attended the event.
At the work meeting and chamber of commerce, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on the selection of Hongcun in Yixian County and Hukaiwen Ink Factory in Shexian County as the 2025 "Perception of China" practice base of the China Scholarship Council. The meeting pointed out that Tongji University and Huangshan City have a good foundation for cooperation, and in the future, relying on Tongji University's international school-running advantages and overseas communication resources, the two sides will jointly create a platform for international students to experience excellent traditional Chinese culture, further expand the influence of Huangshan in the field of international education and cultural exchanges, spread the "voice of Huangshan", and tell the "Chinese story".
The two sides also conducted pragmatic discussions on strengthening consulting services, overseas promotion of cultural tourism, international student volunteer teaching activities, and high-quality student source bases, and formed a number of cooperation consensus.

The base was officially awarded to promote Hui culture to the world
After the meeting, the awarding ceremony of Tongji University's "Sensing China" Huangshan Base was held at the Hukaiwen Ink Factory in Shexian County. The base was successfully selected as the 2025 "Sensing China" practice base of the China Scholarship Council in May this year. The base is located in Hongcun and Hukai Ink Factory, which is the first practice base for international students in Anhui Province, and has achieved a breakthrough from zero to one. Jointly built by Tongji University and Huangshan Municipal Government, it aims to help international students gain an in-depth understanding of Huizhou culture and feel the beauty of traditional Chinese crafts through cultural research, social practice, and volunteer teaching services.
In the future, the two sides will further expand the areas of cooperation, continue to make efforts in education, culture, scientific research, etc., promote international students to carry out social practice, volunteer teaching and cultural exchange activities in Huangshan, and attract more overseas young people to enter Huizhou, understand China and perceive China.
Tongji University will continue to give full play to its international characteristics and disciplinary advantages, work with Huangshan City to build a new platform for cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and foreign countries, and contribute "Tongji wisdom" and "Huangshan power" to the world dissemination of Chinese culture.
