In order to effectively enhance the mental health literacy and awareness of the rule of law among international students of Southeast University, on October 29, the School of Overseas Education of Southeast University specially invited Mr. Cao Xing from the Mental Health Education Center of Southeast University and Zhu Jun, a fourth-level senior police sergeant of the Exit and Entry Management Detachment of the Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau, to give special lectures on mental health education and legal education respectively.
In the mental health education lecture session, Mr. Cao Xing focused on the cultural adaptation issues that overseas students are most concerned about, analyzed the psychological challenges caused by cultural differences in combination with rich cases, and guided students to accept cultural shock with an open mind. For emotional management, Teacher Cao focused on explaining the types of emotions and practical skills of acceptance and regulation, helping students identify their own emotional signals and master simple and effective regulation methods. In addition, Teacher Cao also systematically introduced the PERMA psychological model, providing scientific guidance for students to build a mental health support system from five dimensions: positive emotions, investment, interpersonal relationships, meaning, and achievement, with both theoretical and practical content.
In the legal education lecture, Officer Zhu Jun focused on the daily study and life needs of international students in China, carefully interpreted relevant laws and regulations from the aspects of daily travel safety norms, visa processing procedures and precautions, and public safety protection, and reminded students to avoid legal risks with real cases. At the end of the lecture, Officer Zhu also distributed telecom fraud prevention and traffic safety publicity materials to international students on site, strengthening everyone's awareness of safety precautions through illustrated content.
The whole event had a strong interactive atmosphere, and the sharing of the two speakers resonated strongly with the students. During the questioning session, the students actively asked questions about psychological confusion in cross-cultural communication, life choices, visa extension details, and emergency treatment of life safety in China. After the event, many students said that the content of the lecture was in line with their needs, which not only relieved the psychological pressure, but also clarified the legal boundaries, and provided a strong guarantee for studying and living in China.
