As the moonlight of the Mid-Autumn Festival gradually dyes the campus, and when the atmosphere of reunion lingers the streets, the Mental Health Center of Nanjing University has always been concerned about a special group of international students who have crossed the ocean to study in China. In order to alleviate their homesickness, help them immerse themselves in the charm of traditional Chinese culture, and better integrate into campus life, on the afternoon of September 28, the Mid-Autumn Festival psychological healing activity for international students carefully planned by the Mental Health Center allowed foreign students to gain an unforgettable Mid-Autumn Festival memory in laughter.
The event kicked off with a lively "drumming and passing flowers", and the relaxed and interesting interaction instantly broke the formality of first meeting. With the passing of the bouquet, international students from different countries such as the United Kingdom, France, and Germany stood up in turn to introduce themselves and shared their daily life at NTU.
After breaking the ice, the event entered the core link full of cultural interest. The host first gently told the origin and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival, from the legend of Chang'e running to the moon to the tradition of family moon viewing, so that international students had a deeper understanding of this traditional Chinese festival. Subsequently, everyone sat around and experienced the production of snowy mooncakes with their own hands: kneading the dough, wrapping the filling, pressing the mold, and the seemingly simple steps were full of freshness. "Next time, you must be more patient, and you can't squeeze out the stuffing anymore!" International students from France smiled and shared their "small mistakes", which caused bursts of laughter at the scene; The works of more students are exquisite in shape and attractive in color, and it is not at all obvious that it is the first attempt, and the sense of accomplishment is beyond words.
The residual warmth of mooncake production has not dissipated, and the handmade sachet link has brought new surprises. The host explained in detail the effects and meanings of osmanthus, wormwood and other spices, and many international students came into close contact with these plants with oriental charm for the first time. "I smelled this smell on the streets of Nanjing, and I never knew what it was, but today I finally 'solved the case'!" An international student held a sachet full of osmanthus flowers, his face full of joy, and planned to take this unique aroma home and slowly cherish it.
The sharing session at the end of the event was full of warmth. Bo Xiangnan, an international student from Germany, said: I have also experienced the Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam, but this time the experience is completely different, this is my first time trying to make mooncakes. The Mid-Autumn Festival has the meaning of reunion, which is not prominent in Germany, and I think we can learn a lot from it. The process of making mooncakes with other classmates allowed me to learn about many different cultures, and it was a very good activity. Park Min-woo, a Korean international student, said: "I am studying computer science, and I am usually very busy with my schoolwork and rarely have the opportunity to participate in activities. Special thanks to the psychological center, not only let me learn to make snowy mooncakes, but also met so many friends from all over the world, today is really happy. Li Zhengqi, an intern at the Psychological Center, also shared his feelings: "I used to be an international exchange student and had a study abroad experience, so I can especially understand the difficulty of studying in a foreign country. So we made a lot of detailed preparations before this event, hoping to make everyone feel the warmth of home here. ”
"I was actually very apprehensive when planning, worried that students from different cultural backgrounds would be 'social fear', cold scene, and not so interested in the arrangement of activities." Teacher Wu of the Psychological Center said with a smile, "But I didn't expect that the registration feedback was very positive after the event notice was released. Seeing everyone so engaged and having so much fun, I felt that the hard work and preparation during this time were worth it. ”
