Wang Jingdai, Vice President of Zhejiang University, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. He extended a warm welcome and sincere congratulations to the new students of the class of 2025, reviewed the history of international student training at Zhejiang University, and put forward three hopes to the students: first, he hoped that the students would remain curious, continue to explore bravely, take exploration as the driving force, and seek truth and innovation with creative thinking; second, I hope that students will embrace multiculturalism, learn while respecting differences, and grow in exchanges and mutual learning; Third, I hope that students will bravely assume social responsibility, show responsibility and responsibility in action, and have the world in mind. He sent a message to the students to grow in exploration, achieve in cooperation, realize value in responsibility, and become an outstanding force in building a human community.
Huang Can, a professor at the School of Management of Zhejiang University, spoke as a teacher representative. He encouraged the students to think about the "two questions" of President Zhu Kezhen, cherish their time in school, have the courage to try and explore, and make full use of Zhejiang University's world-class academic resources and the unique heritage of Hangzhou. He wished the students a solid foundation for growth here in the next few years, eventually becoming the person they want to be, and leaving their own unique mark on this great university and even the world.
“ZJU is not just an institution; it is a vibrant intellectual home that sparks curiosity, nurtures creativity, and empowers you to realize your fullest potential.” Munazza Ijaz, a doctoral student in plant pathology from Pakistan, described her Zhejiang University as a representative of her old students. At the same time, with the experience of winning the 2024 "Perceiving China" Person of the Year, the academic star, students are encouraged to always believe in themselves, seek truth in their pursuit of knowledge, innovate in research, and cultivate morality in being a person.
Darya Rusak, a Chinese language undergraduate student from Belarus, spoke as a freshman representative. She recalled that she first came to China when she was 17 years old, and since then she has planted the seeds to study in China. In order to pursue a bigger stage, she came to Hangzhou to study, where tradition and innovation blend, and hoped to learn, collaborate, grow, never forget her original intention, bravely pursue her dreams, and jointly write the story of Zhejiang University with Chinese and foreign students from Zhejiang University.
2025· Opening Ceremony The opening ceremony awarded the title of "International Student Admissions Ambassadors" to a total of 40 students and alumni from 10 teams and 6 individuals who won the honorary title of International Student Admissions Ambassadors in 2025. In order to build the brand of "Study in Zhejiang University" and attract more outstanding international students to study at our university, the school has organized international students and alumni to participate in enrollment promotion every year since 2019. They shared their study and life at Zhejiang University with the world through various online and offline methods, showing the good spirit of our international students. The "School Song of Zhejiang University" slowly sounded, and everyone stood up and sang the school song, and the brilliant road of seeking truth opened ahead.
