1. Visa type
1. X1 visa: International students who study for a long time (study in China for more than 180 days) must enter the country with an X1 visa, and international students who enter the country with an X1 visa must apply for a study residence permit within 30 days after entering the country.
2. X2 visa: International students who study for short-term studies (less than 180 days in China) can enter the country with an X2 visa. Overstaying the visa constitutes unlawful presence.
International students must enter China with an ordinary passport and a study (X1 or X2) visa. International students holding other types of visas may not be able to study at school normally, and international students are responsible for all consequences arising therefrom.
2. Handling process
1. Apply for a visa to China
International students studying in China must apply for a visa (X1 or X2) at the Chinese embassy (consulate) in their country of nationality or residence. When applying for a study visa to China, you must provide the admission letter sent by our school, the "Application Form for Visa for Foreign Students in China" (JW202/JW201/DQ form) and other documents designated by the embassy (consulate).
2. Apply for visa extension, residence permit and residence permit extension
Step 1: After entering the country, international students must submit the following materials at least 15 days in advance, and apply for visa extension, renewal or extension of residence permit with the documents issued by the school's exit and entry office according to the type of documents held and the period of study.
A. Original passport, copy of passport front page, copy of current visa or residence permit page, copy of latest entry seal page;
B. Accommodation registration form;
C. A copy of the Chinese admission notice;
D. Tuition payment receipt;
E. Copy of JW201/JW202/DQ form;
F. Safety agreement for off-campus accommodation for foreign students;
G. Physical examination records of foreigners;
Remarks:
1) "Accommodation Registration Form": International students staying in the on-campus apartment will be assisted by the front desk manager of the apartment. International students who rent off-campus housing must register at the police station under the jurisdiction of the place where the rental house is located.
2) Scholarship students are not required to provide tuition fee receipts;
3) "Safety Agreement for Off-campus Accommodation for Foreign Students" Off-campus renters need to obtain it from the supervising teacher;
4) "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners": International students who have transferred to a residence permit for the first time and have a study period of more than one year (including one year) must provide the results of the physical examination at a hospital in China within six months.
Step 2: Students log in to the International Student Management System to apply, and the Immigration Office reviews the international student application and prepares the visa or residence permit application materials issued by the school.
Step 3: International students collect the materials issued by the Immigration Office.
Step 4: International students go to the Exit and Entry Bureau of the local Public Security Bureau to apply for the latest visa or residence permit.
3. Precautions
1. International students should apply for extension at least 15 days before the validity period of their visa and residence permit, and the processing time is about 30 days. Those who overstay their visas will be punished by the public security organs with a maximum penalty of 10,000 RMB.
2. International students must register at the public security police station of their place of residence within 24 hours after entering the country and obtain the "Accommodation Registration Form". Re-registration shall be carried out in a timely manner when changing address, changing passport, changing visa or residence permit, re-entering the country for accommodation after leaving the country, and registration expires. International students who fail to register or re-register in time constitute illegal presence. Those who fail to register and cause overdue will be punished by the public security organs with a maximum penalty of 2,000 RMB.
3. If international students violate laws and disciplines during their stay in China, the school has the right to report to the public security organs to cancel their visas and residence permits in China.
4. International students must pay insurance premiums and tuition fees when applying for visa or residence permit extension.
5. The validity period of international students' visas and residence permits in China shall not exceed the study period. International students should leave the country before their visa or residence permit expires, otherwise they will be considered unlawful residence.
6. International students who withdraw from school or take a leave of absence must apply for a stay visa from the Institute of International Education when leaving the school. If the relevant procedures are not completed as required, the College of International Education will declare the visa to the local Immigration Bureau, and the student will bear all the consequences caused by this.
7. The school does not invite the families of international students to accompany the school. When family members apply for a residence permit, international students must submit a written application to the supervisor of the School of International Education, and after the supervising teacher signs and agrees, the Immigration Affairs Office will issue certification materials for them. The validity period of the dependent's residence permit shall not exceed the validity period of the residence permit for international students.
International students are required to submit the following paper application materials:
A. A copy of the first page of the international student's passport, a copy of the current visa or residence permit, and the original or copy of the admission notice stamped with the official seal of the Institute of International Education;
B. Original valid passport of relatives, a copy of the first page of the passport, a copy of the current visa page, and a copy of the latest entry stamp page;
C. Accommodation registration form for international students and relatives;
D. Verification certificate of physical examination records of overseas personnel;
E. Proof of kinship (in Chinese).
Remarks: The relevant certificates issued by overseas institutions must be certified by the Chinese embassy (consulate) abroad, and if the original certified document is a non-Chinese version, a translation translated and stamped by the embassy (consulate) or translation company must be provided.
8. The school implements various visa and residence permit policies in accordance with national laws and regulations and the requirements of the local public security exit and entry administration.
4. Passport matters
1. Passport is reissued if lost
International students should follow the following steps to complete the relevant procedures after discovering that their passport is lost:
1) Immediately report the case to the police station where it was lost and obtain a report certificate.
2) Go to the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau of the local public security bureau to issue a passport loss certificate.
3) International students can apply for a new passport at the consulate of their host country with proof of loss of their passport.
4) Within 24 hours of obtaining a new passport, bring the new passport and passport loss certificate to re-apply for the "Accommodation Registration Form"; and apply for a new visa or residence permit at the Immigration Office within 10 days. International students who lose their replacement passports in China and do not apply for a new residence permit within 10 days constitute illegal residence.
2. Replace the new passport
1) Immediately file with the police station where you live, update your passport information, and change your accommodation registration form.
2) Inform the supervisor and bring relevant materials to apply for a new residence permit.
5. Regulatory reminders
According to the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Exit and Entry, foreigners shall be punished in the following circumstances:
1. Foreigners who reside illegally shall be given a warning; if the circumstances are serious, a fine of 500 yuan for each day of illegal residence, a total of not more than 10,000 yuan, or detention for not less than 5 days but not more than 15 days.
2. Foreigners who refuse to accept the inspection of their exit and entry documents by the public security organs, or refuse to submit their residence permits, or who change the registration of their residence permits and fail to do so in accordance with the regulations, or who fraudulently use other people's exit and entry documents, or fail to register their accommodation in accordance with the law, shall be given a warning and may be fined not more than 2,000 yuan.
3. If a foreigner commits an illegal act in China, he or she may leave the country within a time limit, be deported or deported within a time limit in accordance with the law. foreigners who are sent out of the country are not allowed to enter the country for one to five years; Foreigners who are deported are not allowed to enter the country for 10 years.
4. Foreigners who engage in activities that are inconsistent with the reasons for their stay or other violations of Chinese laws and regulations and are not suitable for continued stay in China may be sentenced to leave the country within a limited period of time.
5. Foreigners who are illegally employed shall be fined between 5,000 and 20,000 yuan; if the circumstances are serious, they shall be detained for not less than 5 days but not more than 15 days, and shall be fined between 5,000 and 20,000 yuan.
