
In the spring semester of 2026, Chongqing University welcomed over 80 international students from 27 countries, including South Korea, France, and Thailand. Having traveled across mountains and seas, they gathered on the university campus with dreams of learning and exploration, officially embarking on a new journey as international students in China. To help international freshmen quickly integrate into campus life and adapt to their academic environment, the University’s International Student Affairs Center meticulously planned and organized a series of orientation activities, providing comprehensive services and support to ensure a smooth start to their studies in China.
One-Stop Orientation Services: Efficient, Convenient, and Warm
On March 3, staff from the International Student Affairs Office and student volunteers arrived early to provide “one-stop” registration services for new students, including information verification, visa processing, housing registration, tuition payment, insurance enrollment, and student ID card distribution. The entire process was orderly and efficient, offering great convenience to the international students arriving on campus for the first time. To create a warm and ceremonial welcome atmosphere, the venue featured creative photo backdrops incorporating campus cultural elements, attracting many new students to stop and take photos. On March 5, the International Student Affairs Center held a freshman orientation session in Room 504 of the Main Academic Building on Campus A. Chen Ying, Deputy Director of the Center, extended a warm welcome to the new students, expressing her hope that they would not only master their academic disciplines at Chongqing University but also embrace multiculturalism and strive to become friendly ambassadors for cultural exchange and inter-university cooperation. Legal and Safety Education Lecture: Strengthening Defenses to Safeguard Your Study Abroad Experience
On March 12, the International Student Affairs Management Center organized a legal education lecture for all new international students, featuring a guest speaker from the Exit-Entry Administration Detachment of the Shapingba District Public Security Bureau. During the lecture, the officers systematically explained visa management regulations and key precautions for studying abroad by referencing relevant laws, regulations, and typical cases. They provided detailed guidance on practical procedures such as visa extensions and residence permit applications, while also issuing risk warnings regarding common safety hazards like telecommunications and online fraud. This helped enhance the new students’ understanding of laws and regulations and strengthened their awareness of legal compliance and safety precautions. Following the lecture, the officers conducted on-site visa interviews for the students to ensure that each student’s visa application was compliant and valid, thereby clearing the way for a smooth start to their studies.
