On April 18, a momentous Southwest University International Alumni Donation Ceremony and Symposium was grandly held on campus. The event was graced by Vice President Zhao Yufang, alongside key representatives from the External Liaison Office, the University Education Foundation, the International College, and an enthusiastic delegation of faculty and students. This gathering not only celebrated the deep bonds between the university and its global graduates but also set the stage for a new era of international cooperation as the institution approaches its historic 120th anniversary.
Strengthening Global Ties and Educational Excellence During the opening remarks, Vice President Zhao Yufang extended a heartfelt welcome to the returning alumni on behalf of the university. She expressed immense pride in the diverse professional achievements our Southwest University International Alumni have secured across various global industries. Zhao provided an insightful overview of SWU’s recent strategic advancements in international cooperative exchanges and global education initiatives. She emphasized that the upcoming 120th anniversary will serve as a transformative milestone, propelling the university to further its opening-up policies and accelerate the construction of a world-class university with distinctive characteristics.
Philanthropy and the Future of International Scholarships A highlight of the symposium was the signing of a strategic donation agreement. Representatives from prominent educational organizations—specifically Ms. Le Thi Van of Vietnam’s Yunyun Tianping Education Group and Ms. Aya of Thailand’s AYACHINESE Education Group—signed formal protocols to establish dedicated international student scholarships. These funds are specifically designed to incentivize and support high-caliber students from around the globe to pursue their academic dreams at Southwest University. This philanthropic gesture highlights the enduring commitment of our Southwest University International Alumni to fostering the next generation of global talent.
Recognizing Excellence: Honorary Titles Conferred To honor the significant impact and contributions of its graduates, the university conferred several prestigious honorary titles during the ceremony. Honors such as “Outstanding Alumnus for School Promotion,” “Academic and Practical Pioneer Alumnus,” and “Global Liaison Alumnus” were awarded to deserving individuals. These accolades are more than just titles; they serve to ignite a continued passion for entrepreneurship among alumni and reinforce their role as vital contributors to the mother校’s ongoing development and global prestige.
A Crossroads of Cultures: Alumni Voices The symposium provided a vibrant platform for alumni representatives from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Armenia, and Egypt to share their journeys. The atmosphere was filled with nostalgia as participants recalled their cherished memories at SWU and detailed their professional struggles and triumphs since graduation. Their collective voices offered a powerful testament to the university’s influence, as they expressed heartfelt wishes for the future prosperity of their alma mater. It was a clear demonstration of how Southwest University International Alumni act as cultural ambassadors, bridging their home countries with China.
The Birth of the International Student Alumni Association The day’s festivities culminated in the official inauguration of the Southwest University International Student Alumni Association. The university formally read the “Approval for the Preparation and Establishment of the SWU International Student Alumni Association” and ceremoniously presented the official plaque and flag. A newly appointed leadership team was introduced to guide the association’s mission: President Luo Junyong (Thailand), Vice President Le Thi Van (Vietnam), and Secretary-General Ali Huang (Egypt) were officially issued their appointment letters.
